“Good location, very dated room”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

My and my friend stayed at this hotel for a quick trip to Sihanoukville from Phnom Penh. The room was very spacious, bed were unusually hard and the furniture was from the 1970's. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was ok. Rate was 42 dollars so we didnt expect a Ritz Carlton. My friend got food poisioning eating the steak sandwich, be carefull eating that. Hotel is close to the beach. I found the whole beach scene to be unpleasant and rundown. It wasn't very clean. I can tolerate the beggars, but the beach area was a little to dirty for me. Probably wont stay here again.

I stayed here for 2 nights with a tour group. It was a 1-minute walk to the beach, where all the restaurants, bars and water sports are. There is a small cafe next the pool where you can order drinks or food and they will bring it out to you. Wasn't really in the hotel room for that much time, so can't comment much on service or other hotel facilities. BUT breakfast was very strange food for me as a Western person...and cost US $7 extra.

After a fairly longish drive from Phnom Pehn when we reached Sihanokville and turned the last corner, we came across the hotel building whose first impression was not great. on checking in, nothing really retracted that first impression. A simple hotel room, without any frills and fancies – just about a functional place to sleep. Breakfast buffet is nothing to blow you away, the regular fare.
An average hotel with average service average ambience, average food, average everything.. but not an average price...

Maybe a minor plus point is that the beach is only short walk away, but there are other places nearer the beach and at lower prices too...

Room Tip: If you do end up at this place, ask for a room facing the pool and on a higher floor - you will have...

Great location, right by the beach, bars, restaurants, boat trips, massages etc.
Rooms were clean, comfy & modern.
Pool at the hotel was perfect for a chilled afternoon of dipping and sunbathing. There's a supermarket around the corner to get some cheap beers for the pool too.

Stayed here late 2013 with my partner. Good things first I guess... It was close to the beaches, has a pool, offers free breakfast and thats about it. The hotel had a different feel too it than the other 10 hotels I stayed at whilst in Cambodia. It was more Western and was lacking the sense of Cambodian culture. The staff were pretty rude and there was no safe in the hotel room.

All in all there are better hotels around the area.

Just spent a night at Golden Sand Hotel in Kampong Som. It is great location for the sea, just a few minute walk! Every thing is alright. I love the breakfast provided by the hotel. It is not cheap but nor expensive! The price that you can afford!

I really wasn't all that impressed with this hotel. Included breakfast was good. However, our room did not have a safe which was very disappointing considering the particular warning we always got about Sihanoukville. The room was fine - quite small though. Convenient location - close to the beaches, but far enough to not get too much noise. Staff weren't always friendly and the hotel was so large and almost western? Not what I wanted from a trip to Cambodia. I believe there are nicer places to stay in Sihanoukville.
