From the street this small boutique restaurant tends to look unassuming, but wait till you order the food. The fare served up by Vasco & his lovely wife is a real winner. Equal to any 4 or 5 star hotel. The meals may take a little longer to arrive, but that is due to the fact that every thing is being cooked using fresh produce, from scratch. This is a refreshing change, especially when many restaurants fall into the trap preparing items on their menu. The owner visits the markets first thing every morning and decides which produce looks the freshest to compliment that days menu. I have eaten twice at The Gypsies and both times I was most impressed with the meals I received. For dinner, I had a lovely chicken dish and the vegetables were mixed and varied, but most of all the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Not overcooked and not undercooked, but just right. Some one knows what they are doing. Breakfast again was both cooked and presented to perfection. Fried eggs not overcooked, still a little runny, generous serve of bacon and toast with homemade marmalade jam. I also ordered a small bowl of mixed fruit. There was varied selection of fresh fruit, all exquisitely presented. The mango cut into the shape of a heart. You can't beat the value for money at The Gypsies. All their meals are more than reasonably priced. If you are planning a night out for dinner or a late brunch in Sihanoukville, you must try The Gypsies. Great work guys!
