Good hotel. Shame about surrounding area

Review of Ren Resort

Review for hotel- not area

Modern minimalist hotel on the beach. Pleasant stay & room large with lovely walk in shower.

Restaurant was good & the cocktails excellent. Team were very welcoming and helpful.

Right on the beach with a beautiful view of sunset.

Don’t bother with the evening boat fishing & sunset tour. It’s way overpriced and boat had pet cockroaches.

Review of surroundings: Based on the huge scale development of enormous Chinese casinos & the building site right next door, I’d have to say in hindsight I wished we’d skipped Sihanoukville.

It was probably amazing ten years ago. Now it’s just sad & all you can hear is the sound of angle grinders, cement mixers and dumper trucks.

I don’t think I’d come back but only because of the area.

The restaurant was great as was their service. The food and the breakfast buffet was served solicitously and with a smile. The housekeeping was not up to the mark at all with leaky pipes (fixed with towels!), unannounced water shortage, faulty flush, non replacement of coffee sachets etc.

Room tip: Insist on a room with a view

We had a problem on the first night but the Manager resolved it immediately the next morning. This is a very clean, tidy and well looked after resort. Excellent spacious rooms that are easy to relax in and a nice pool that won't leave you smelling like chemicals. All the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful.
The complex has a nice beachside restaurant where they serve a comprehensive breakfast. Everything is fresh and tasty. You can also chill out with your sea views, have a meal and a few cocktails and watch the sun go down. The beach is very clean and they have plenty of beach lounges for those lazy cocktail days with an occasional swim and massage. Ray and Rich really looked after us on our five day stay. These guys are amazing and really professional and passionate about their jobs. They made our stay so much better. This is not a multi story complex, it is a size that allows it to have a charm and personality. Congratulations to the management. We didn't do much apart from chill out at this little oasis. We were sad to leave.

Room tip: Best rooms are bottom floor with pool access.

It's a shame about their beach restaurant (separate review), as this hotel is lovely, though I did have an issue with the a.c. on 2 days, but was sorted immediately. The staff are lovely, the rooms are large and clean and a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. The pool was large and very clean. Sadly I won't be visiting again, not because of the resort, but the area is dreadful, rubbish everywhere, huge potholes in the muddy dirt tracks, very little lighting on the tracks at night. If you want to stay in the resort and chill for the entire time then ok, forget about the area and the city is dreadful, terrible roads, a dust bowl and full of Chinese casinos. So sad for the area, it could be a paradise.

This piece of paradise is probably one of a handful of Cambodian owed and run establishments left in Sihanoukville. Awesome! Amazing! Outstanding! Everything here is perfect and the staff do everything and anything they can to make your stay an experience of a lifetime. Thank you. Xx

Stayed at the Ren for 6 nights and loved it. The rooms are spacious, clean, modern and with all the amenities you would expect. A small hotel, tucked away at the end of Otres 2, the road is uneven, as is every other road in Sihanoukville, with a lovely beachside restaurant and direct access onto the clean sands, which the staff clean regularly. The food in the restaurant is varied and well cooked, the breakfast selection includes pastries, cereals, and a wide variety of cooked items. The staff are exceptional - friendly, generous and helpful. Yes, there is a hotel being built right next door, however the whole of Sihanoukville is a construction site, but the building work wasn't intrusive. The pool has a small section for children. Had we not found this little rectangle of paradise we would have left Sihanoukville. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so brilliant.
