Disappointed

Review of Ren Resort
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Feb 2019via mobile
We stayed in Ren resort hotel for 2 nights based on the good reviews and great pictures but we were quite disappointed .

Pros:
- rooms are spacious and clean
- the pool is clean and well maintained with a little pool for babies
-beach is close to the hotel

Cons :
-lots of construction nearby
- our room ( room 30) smelled awful
- WIFi was very poor and we had no internet connection for these 2 days
- lots of garbage in front of the hotel and we could smell it from the pool
- breakfast is very poor compared to the boutique hotels nearby.
- not enough sunbeds in the pool and no parasol in the beach , not convenient for family with babies

We recently ended our 2 week vacation in Cambodia at the Ren Resort. What a great choice. The setup of the property is the bar/restaurant is directly on the beach, there is a path between the bar/restaurant and then the hotel. It looks like basically all the properties are set up similar to this in the immediate area and while the hotel is not directly on the beach it is literally with 100' +/- of the beach with nice pool and view of water. The sand is like walking in sugar and very gradual slope into the water makes for warm waters and great beachfront. You are quite a ways from the main City of Sihanoukville, which is a plus because it is much quieter and prettier here, however as we did a day trip over to Koh Rong Samloem the tuk tuk ride back was $15.00. The ride to the ferry was included with our tour, which we booked through the Ren Resort, but did not realize you are on your own getting back. Last but not least I cannot say enough about Reach, the bar/restaurant manager and his staff. We received great and friendly service at all the properties we stayed at in Cambodia, however Reach was far and away the best. Greeting us daily by our names and sharing stories of his country and family was truly appreciated.

We were a bunch of friends on a vacation to Cambodia, Sihanoukville was a sudden plan and we booked renn and headed there.

The resort is located right on the beach and the only world to describe it would be “beautiful “.

The rooms are spacious. Neat. And comfortable. The restaurant is very good.

Overall an amazing stay and will definitely be back !

We stayed here for 3 nights in January, 2019. It is a perfect small beach hotel. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and it was very quiet. Large bathroom also. The hotel is set back from the beach and their restaurant is right on the beach. They had a very pretty setting. The beach was spotless and they had lounge chairs with umbrellas set up for you.
The food was excellent. We enjoyed a few meals here and were not disappointed. Dina their chef is good at what she does. Creates a menu for everyone with lots of choice. Their breakfasts were very good. Lots of local and western dishes and the fresh fruit selection was big.
The staff here were excellent. Charming, friendly, helpful. ready to answer all your questions and help you out with whatever you needed. Airport ride, tuk tuk ride, etc...
I swam in the pool also and it was great. Quite deep and long for a good swim.
Happy hour was also very good with cheap bar prices and delicious inventive cocktails. Ginger, basil mojito anyone

Room tip: We were in the back #13 and our friends right above us. I can't speak about the rooms over the pool but i'm sure they are lovely.

I flew into Phnom Penh, jumped into my pre-arranged taxi (there were no flights from PP to Sihanoukville that matched up with my travel plans. Apparently lots of people have this problem) and headed to Ren Resort. The drive took 5 hours with a mandatory 30 minute stop at a (very clean, modern) taxi stop coffee house. As I arrived to Ren in the dark I was unsure of what the surrounding area was like but hoped it would be like the website photos. I checked in and found the room to be modern, minimalist and spacious. I’d booked a pool access room (18) and couldn’t have been happier. Ordered room service (coconut pumpkin soup and spring rolls) and it was delicious. The breakfast (included) was good and the beach in front of Ren was clean with powdery golden sand and clean, clear water. I swam, lounged around and ate at the resort for the three days I was there. When the tide went out I went back to my room for a dip in the pool right off my deck. Back to the beach for happy hour drinks and to watch the sunset with other guests. Rick the food & beverage manager and his team are great. I would highly recommend Ren Resort for a chill, sun soaked couple of days.

We stayed at the REN Resort for one night.
Our room was massive along with the bathroom and shower.
REN Resort is right at the far end of Otres 2 and right on the beach. The location is peaceful and quiet.
Do not look left or right down the sand road that cuts through the resort... you won’t enjoy what you see... so don’t look :-)

The room we booked was an Executive Room... paid a few dollars more than a standard room.... but WELL worth it.

The restaurant food was very good and the F&B manager (Rich) was excellent.

All-in-all Ren is a very good resort and I definitely recommend it.... however, only if you HAVE to be in Sihanoukville.
This is because Sihanoukville is an absolute DUMP !!
The Chinese have invaded the city and are building HUNDREDS of hotels and casinos.... the whole of Sihanoukville is now one massive, filthy, dusty and noisy building site. Avoid going anywhere near it unless you absolutely have to.
