“Lake a little low but still enchanting”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Kings Beach was beautiful, but rocky due to low water level. There was a great park with outdoor slides safe for toddlers.

“A Good Tahoe Beach Option”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

Don't expect to find Southern California beaches in Lake Tahoe. If that is your goal then you should go to elsewhere. But we have young children so the goal is enough simple diversions and Kings Beach met our requirements.

First, the cold hard reality: they charge you $10 to park and there is another beach closer to town that is free (I think it is called North Tahoe Beach). We didn't go there but from what we could see the only missing would be proximity to the pier where they rent peddle boats, etc. and also the playground. So if you are okay with no playground the other beach is an option.

The great part here (and elsewhere nearby) is that the water isn't deep at all. You can walk really far out and it will only be up to your knees. So you can imagine how much the kids like being there. Yes, the water is cold but for young kids that won't be an issue and, to be honest, in July the water was just cool not cold. We were fine playing in the water for quite a while.

As mentioned before, being there also means you are near where they rent sea kyaks, peddle boats, etc. I'm sure you can get them elsewhere but it is easy to walk under the pier and you can choose what you want. We rented the peddle boats and had a good time (though use your life vest as a seat cushion since the seats are rock hard and there is almost no chance of falling out barring a tsunami). Tip 2: wear real shoes as the peddles are horribly uncomfortable otherwise.

Not much else to say- it's a beach- there is good enough sand and water to play with and bathrooms and playground nearby.

“We Love Kings Beach!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Whenever we stay in Tahoe City, we drive up to Kings Beach. It is SO beautiful...the clear, blue water surrounded by alpine mountains, the soft, sandy beach, the picnic areas. The surrounding community is a little dumpy but we don't feel unsafe and there are cute stores around too. Sometimes it's pretty windy...but that's what you get at many beaches. Anyway, it is one of my favorite places in one of the most beautiful parts of the USA!

This lake is sooo cold! However, I love the beach here, but not much to do in the winter except dip your feet into the icy water. Oh, there is also the gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding mountains. And like the rest of Tahoe, plenty of photo backdrops.

“Always inspiring and soothing”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

No matter how many people are out enjoying the sun or the water, it is worth a walk on this beach. iT's well maintained. I know it says no dogs, but many people ignore that and the dogs are always having fun too.
