A better sight seeing river is the Smith 20 mile north. Live here. Lots of Nature nearby

This was a hike about 4-5 miles one way, or shuttle it. We started south heading north to the Lagoon Creek parking lot, starting by taking a side road about 5 miles to a parking lot above the mouth of the Klamath River. A great many grey whales were feeding. Magnificent sight. Many opportunities to view seabirds, bald eagles, etc. Amazing to walk through a Sitka Spruce forest and hear Sea Lions barking. Nice stop at Hidden Beach. You'll probably be alone there. You'll be glad you went.

If you are searching for whales... You can see them from on top of Requa Rd. Also, you can find an impressive Indian Village (ceremonial grounds) at the mouth of this river, which is open to everyone... Breathtaking ROAR of the surf, and almost No one visits this place... Often we have had the entire mile long beach to ourselves.

We were lucky enough to see the beautiful whale that is hanging around by the bridge on the highway. She has been in the area since June, so it was really cool to see a whale on our trip to California.
