Brought my BF to La Jolla to celebrate his birthday and found this hotel online to stay for the weekend. The pictures online looked fabulous and read some reviews about LV. I'm so glad we stayed here. Our experience was truly wonderful! We were received at check-in by 2 hotel staff that genuinely seemed happy to see us. We found out that our room was going to be renovated the following day so they upgraded us to a garden suite. I was looking forward to the ocean view room, but the garden suite had an amazing view as well, and you can't beat an upgrade! Thank you LV and your staff for making our stay so memorable. The BF loved it so much he has made LV "our" hotel and we will stay here every time we visit La Jolla from now on.

Room Tip: Try to spulrge for a suite, so roomy

Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was wonderful! We did not stay in the hotel so we cannot comment on that. Poached eggs were perfect. Portions were ideal. Fresh orange juice was great! Nice view over the shore. Nice children's menu as well.

Stayed: March 2014

We came to La Jolla for a girls trip/my birthday. We wanted an area where the weather would be nice for February, we would be near the ocean, great shopping, spas, dining and we would not need a car once we got because of ideal location to everything. This is the hotel. We had a double / Queen room for 3 of us. Plenty of room and big bathroom. The beds were soooo comfortable I did not want to come home. Also the concierge service was amazing! Love the Keurig machines in the room for coffee too. We ate dinner at Herringbones, Eddie V's and Georges all outstanding ambiance and food! Would highly recommend. Book ahead though because not inexpensive to stay here.

Room Tip: King rooms have balconies I believe that was the only thing we wish we could have gotten.

We booked this hotel as a trip down memory lane we have not been to La Jolla for over 20 years so this was supposed to be a real treat
As Brits we like to sit in the Lounge and read -No lounge under renovation we were not told
We returned to our room having explored Torrie Pine National Park to rest our room was not cleaned and despite 2 phone calls I am still waiting
Late check out tomorrow unhelpful
The only saving grace is the bar staff are wonderful
Our memory lane trip was disappointing

Room Tip: Ocean view but at a price

Dear Special Brit Guest -
I am sorry La Sala was not available during your stay - alas this lovely room is undergoing a much needed restoration and will return in mid April even more glorious. Although La Sala is out of service our property still has numerous patios, courtyards and our pool deck for lounging along with our two restaurants, Cafe laRue and THE MED.
I am sorry the your room refresh was delayed - I am wondering if you may have inadvertently left your Do Not Disturb sign posted while out for the day......
Late check outs are considered based upon occupancy and room type. With so many specialty room types we are also obligated to met expected guest check-in times - sometimes a difficult balancing act.
I am sorry that memory lane was not more positive - we do hope that you return to see La Sala when travel finds you back in La Jolla.
Sincerely,
Mark Diballa
Managing Director

This was our third stay at La Valencia and the place continues to impress. Location is five star in beautiful La Jolla, smack in the center of restaurants, shops and galleries. The staff provides impeccable service with a friendly, helpful and welcoming approach to their guests. A new brasserie has been opened in the hotel for casual dining while the main restaurant continues to provides wonderful meals while guests view the Pacific ocean below from their tables. The La V, as it is called by locals, is a little bit pricey but worth the expense. Occasionally they do run special deals which are worth looking for. Great place.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean front or ocean view.

Dear Top Drawer Guest -
We are thrilled and humbled at your gracious review: thank you. La V understands the importance of delivering a special experience and we appreciate your comments and accolades. Just this week we launched a new and much more robust website where we feature some great specials - we hope there is something for everyone!
