“Great place to sit outside and relax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

This is a great, relaxed environment to have drinks and appetizers outside. They have a great, big, gas fireplace to stare into and daydream. The drinks are good and so is the food. Check out the shrimp quesadilla.

“Excellent all around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

5 Stars is all I have to say for the Mustangs and Burros restaurant in the beautiful Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. July 4th, we had made last minutes reservations and were accepted, we sat in the more casual outside dining area with the heaters (Mustangs and Burros), Our server was fantastic. Food and drinks came out with perfect timing. We ordered: - Open Faced Ravioli (Sea Scallops, Prawns, Herb Brie Sauce, Tomato Confit, Grilled Radicchio, Broccolini), - Mustang Angus Burger (Caramelized Onions, Choice of Cheese, Fries with Cilantro Aioli), and - Cumin Crusted Skirt Steak (Fingerling Skins, Cheese, Jalapeno, Guanciale). Not one complaint and the food was delicious and service was great!

“Great Setting - Bad Food and Service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

We took friends here last night after hearing good things about it. The setting is beautiful and different. However, that is where the good exerience ended. The wait staff is inexperienced and unprofessional. Twice they told us we were getting a different server because someone was on break or otherwise engaged. We had to flag them down for silverware, to clear the appetizer and to again to clear the dinner plates.
Of the four of us, only one liked their dinner. The street tacos were good. The open faced ravioli was too acidic, the ahi cold and the herb crusted steak just tasted weird. Kind of frustrated we tried to sit at the bar after dinner for drink but no server came to take our order. Eventually my husband flagged down the bartender. We ordered two mixed drinks and two glasses of wine. The wine was of course fine, but the mixed drinks, a Lemon Drop and Cosmo were both not good.

“Amazing experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

We bought our Tequila and appetizer deal on another site, but when we got there we were greeted by free Valet. The shrimp and scallops ceviche was delicious and the ambiance just as great. We sat outside and were taken care of by our server Yvonne who was beyond helpful and super sweet. We also ordered the shrimp quesadillas and fish tacos which both my husband and I were really impressed with. Great taste, flavor and presentation. After our meal we walked the grounds a little and every employee we saw greeted us. Highly recommend this place if you want to try something new, and feel like your at a resort far away while still in San Diego.

“Excellent Ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

We just stopped in here for a late night snack- we each had the tomato bisque- it comes nicely presented with a dab of cream in the bottom of a bowl and then a pitcher with the soup - they pour the soup over the cream in the bowl. The soup was hearty and chunky- yum! I would recommend! We also shared a shrimp quesadilla which was very generously filled and came with salsa, guac and sour cream. We easily shared this item- no need to have your own. The only thing is it took a LONG time to get our food- but as my husband said- worth the wait.
