My husband and I stayed here in early December only for a couple of nights but it was in the perfect area for where we wanted to go, you need a car though. We used to live in La Jolla years ago when this Hotel was first built and its still impressive and is a reasonable price. The pool was undergoing a major renovation so was a bit peeved not to be able to sit around the pool area, even though it was December, it was fairly warm. We were not told this when we booked. The hotel is very quiet and is only 4 floors high, spread out over the property. It also has a small coffee shop and basic breakfast items. We could go for great walks every morning and then drive up to our favourite bagel shop "Einsteins" after showering and changing. Its only a 5 minute drive into La Jolla Village and is far away from any traffic congestion, yet close to the I 5 freeway and a short drive up to Del Mar which has some fantastic restaurants.

Room Tip: We didn't experience any air con problems and our room was on the north side facing the golf cou...

Hotel room, grounds, restaurant and location to nearby attractions is great! The restaurant had a nice selection for breakfast and dinner and the food was great. It's a short drive north or south for access to some nice scenic beaches and walking trails. The pool looked spectacular and I'm sure it's a good time if the weather permits.

Had a great stay at this hotel. I am in a wheelchair and had a real problem which needed to be solved. Thanks to the night manager, Andrea, for going above & beyond helping us to pickup my forgotten equipment from a previous hotel in San Diego. She personally called the other hotel to find it and then even made a personal trip after hours to pick it up from the other hotel. Top notch hotel in every respect, but especially to her for really being a wonderful person. Many thanks for a great week, we enjoyed it all!

This is a beautiful hotel in La Jolla. The service is top notch and their hot tub is the best we have ever been in. The stars are usually up at night and the golf course is right on the edge of the water. Excellent scenery, very serene.

I actually messed up the reservation having booked at 2 different places. The front desk made sure that one of the reservations was canceled and I was not charged twice. They really went above and beyond. 10/10 for service, the rooms had balconies and you could see the horizon. Watching the sunset was pretty exquisite. Brilliant place, excellent service. Would definitely and very highly recommend.

After watching the PGA Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament at Torrey Pines every year on TV, I finally decided to stay nearby, walk the course, and see the tour players up close and in person. I chose the Hilton because it backs up to the golf course and you can walk from the hotel to the course daily. Parking and shuttle expenses are a real hassle at this event.

Pros:
- Best location for golf tournament
- Some rooms have balconies & overlook the golf course
- My room was recently renovated & very clean, modern decor & spacious w/balcony
- Excellent in-room coffee (Coffee Bean Morning Blend)
- Spacious bath room w/nice shower amenities
- In-room safe was appreciated
- Easy access from San Diego downtown airport to hotel in La Jolla
- Bell staff was very friendly and went out of their way to assist

Cons:
- Expensive; be prepared to pay $25 daily self-parking; $15 daily in-room wi-fi
- Golf course views are $300+/daily before taxes & other fees
- Only 1 restaurant in hotel for hundreds of quests; lobby coffee shop closes at 1PM
- If you don't want to eat in the only restaurant on site, you'll have to use room service which was very good, but overpriced very with typical hotel prices and fees.

If you love golf, want to see the players and walk one of the most beautiful courses in the country and don't mind paying for it all, this is the best hotel. Be sure to request a 4th floor room with balcony and view and there's no way you'll be disappointed!

Room Tip: Golf course views, 4th floor, with balcony are the best. My room was on the 18th fairway overlooking...

When we walked into the hotel, we were very disappointed in the room, which smelled musty and was very badly laid out. The bathroom counter was too small for doing hair or makeup, and there was no mirror in the room to do that. The reservation people had their PhDs in DUMB. I can't believe how hard it was to communicate when we were coming or leaving. My husband ordered a normal breakfast one day, and the bill came to $40. We were at a conference there, so we ate every other meal as part of that event. One night, the meat part of the dinner was a sausage. I think that was pretty awful when we paid a lot of money for decent food. The breakfast buffets were OK. The hotel had a beautiful view, but everything was far from everything else—not to mention that we had to pay at least $30 each way to get into LaJolla. There was absolutely nothing nearby if you didn't play golf. The hotel advertised shuttles, which are long gone but still on their website. I will never return to this hotel, and if you are not a golfer, I suggest you choose one of the lovely hotels in LaJolla, a gorgeous town.

Stayed here for a conference, and it's a shame that such a terrible hotel is occupying space in such a nice area. The hotel looks OK from the outside, but the rooms are really old and have a musty smell. It's obvious that they tried to minimally renovate things here and there over the years without committing to a real effort, so there is a mix of old and new, and things end up looking really strange. The hallway has wallpaper that looks really tacky, and it feels like you're inside a cheap cruise ship. They make you pay an exorbitant fee to park there everyday, and the food at the restaurant is terrible and overpriced. Most rooms don't really have a good view of the golf course because of the way they are designed. We checked out a day early because we were so sick and tired of this place. I'd recommend saving your money and staying at a nicer place nearby - and there are plenty...
