Owner description: San Diego's most desirable spot for swimming, diving and snorkeling. The water is calm and the cove is ecologically protected. There is also a world famous dive site that is located in the La Jolla ecological preserve.

“Nice park, seals and sea lions”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Kid-friendly place to watch the wildlife - sea lions, seals, pelicans etc. Shame there were a few people did not get the hint about the rope on Children's beach, staying in the water and not letting the seals get on the beach at the end of the afternoon, even though it was clear they wanted to. Perhaps should just close that beach down for people and let them watch the harbour seals only.

“Fun in the Sun”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

My family took a kayak tour along the northern coast area in the morning and explored the tide pools around sunset. Both areas were a great experience. You have to see the sunset here! Also, the Children's (Seal) Pool was a great way to get up close to the adorable local harbor seals. I got some great pictures and would definitely recommend stopping here.

“Nice place to see the Pacific and wildlife”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Beautiful place to come to and just take in the beautiful Pacific. Seals/Sea Lions love to sun bath on the rocks and play in the water! Of course I had to grab some Jamba Juice which was about a mile walk from the beach in the nearby shopping area :)

“Some of the Best snorkeling on the West Coast”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

I went down to La Jolla Cove for two days and had good snorkelling for one of them. When there is no swell the visibility can be fantastic (10'-30') and you can see a lot of different types of fish and even some seals. The highlight of my snorkelling trip was to swim with one of the local seals. I was literally about 5 feet away from him and enjoyed the company for 15 seconds or so. The visibility is hit or miss because on the second day there was very limited visibility (5-8') and it wasn't worth my time to stay out there too long. As far as a beach for the family to go its not that bad when the tide is low. When we first got there the tide was still kind of high and my kids and wife weren't able to enjoy the beach very well. It was standing room only due to the water being right up against the rocks. This only last a little while until the tide started to reverse and the sand became accessible again. My kids enjoyed it more when there were no waves present. It can be glass calm here, but on other days 1-2 foot waves can come to the cove. If you are looking for a beach to lounge and relax go over to La Jolla shores. If you are looking for a beach to see some seals or swim/snorkel in some calm, clear waters come here.

“Simply Wonderful!”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

You should certainly see La Jolla cove and La Jolla shores. It's a great place to see the wildlife (seals sun bathing on the beach!), humans enjoying the beach, a wonderful sunset, and a great park for picnics, BBQs, and family gatherings.
