“One mile of golden sand”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2012

In the summer, La Jolla Shores is crowded, but there is a lot of parking and good facilities for showering off the sand afterwards. Walk between the sea wall at the private Beach and Tennis Club and the Scripps Pier - it's a mile and locals do it everyday. Surfing is at the Pier end; kids have smaller waves at the south end; the whole beach has lifeguards. The waves are smaller overall in the summer, but there's good form. Shuffle into the water just in case you disturb the occasional sting ray. My favorite time is in the winter. There aren't so many people. But, the view of the Cove and surrounding cliffs is gorgeous at any time of the year.

“Fun beach, great family atmosphere, clean, safe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2012

we spent 11 days a couple blocks off the beach in June/July 2012 and most days spent some time at the beach. The beach is clean, well monitored, and great for families. There are a number of reasonably priced restaurants and shops nearby and plenty of places to rent equipment and get lessons. We kayaked the coves, boggie boarded, ran, rode bikes and learned to surf. Our things were safe when we were in the water.

“Beautiful beach, great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2012

During our stay in San Diego, we spent all of our beach time in La Jolla or on Coronado. These beaches were slightly less crowded, much more beautiful, and surrounded by great views, restaurants, etc.

“Very pretty, with lifeguard”

Beautiful and clean beach. We did not use the beach, but it was recommended to us, and we ran out of time. We did see it from a distance, hence the description

“Best swimming/boogey boarding beach in San Diego, CA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2012

The waves are good but not too rough. The water is warm and clean and the sand is soft. There are lots of lifeguards and free parking.
