It is all here! Surfing, sunning, kayaking, swimming, diving, paddle boarding available all year long. The wide beach with its fine sand and dramatic vistas is a stunning place to spend the day and evening -- bring a picnic and your acoustic guitar -- stay the day and warm up at night with the glow of a toasty beach fire -- marshmallows are a must! Walk to one of the many local spots for a delicious meal -- Italian, Sushi, Mexican, gourmet sandwiches...its all footsteps away in the La Jolla Shores.

Great long sandy beach that is good for family outings, surfing and swimming. There are also a lot of sports shop that offer canoeing, snorkling, paddle board etc.

REMEMBER swimwear and large towel. In the middle of the beach's lawn is a toilet where you can dress on. Go down the stairs to the water and take to the waves. The water is chilled. Swim 10 meters and immediately there is a young seal that will swim with you. The seals are everywhere on the beach. If you snorkel and goggles on, you can see some spectacular scenarios with the seals underwater. You can also walk along the coast and enjoy the eroded sandstone, the seals on the beach and the many birds, among other pelicans. The sunset is fantastic.

I once brought a foreign student here. She stepped out of the car, looked around, cracked an uncharacteristically big smile and said, "In Japan, when we think of California, this is what we see!" The Shores is a broad, flat, long beach with gentle waves (most times) and good walking.

Add in the adjacent grassy lawn, picnic tables, playground, fringe of tall palm trees and wide sidewalk along the inland side and you have an almost perfect Pacific beach. The only drawback? Parking in the summer. Come early or be prepared to hunt for street parking and walk many blocks. Or do what I do; come in the fall, winter and spring when the visitors are fewer and the locals come out to play!

Yes, a great family vacation spot offering varied restaurants, hotels, apartments with a lovely long flat beach. This beach, close to Scripps Pier is ideal for learning how to surf, body surfing, swimming, long leisurely walks or just making sandcastles. Nearby is the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club for tennis fanatics and offering great food, accommodation and a private area of the beach. The La Jolla Shores area is flat which lends itself to long walks through blocks with lovely well cared for homes and gardens on way to the beach front...... A restful relaxing holiday is on your doorstep here..
