Seals, sea-lions, pelicans... all hanging out with the surfers and scuba divers! A gorgeous shoreline to walk around or play in the water.

This is the beach that we took a La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak tour from, so we just hung out after the tour ended. It got crowded but the weather was amazing, the water was warm and incredible and the sand was hot. The waves were crashing when we got there, but it was really a great day. There is a hotel right on the beach, and apparently the beach is privately owned but the public uses it. There's an outdoor shower and bathroom area which is helpful too.

It's a little bit outside of downtown San Diego, about 20-30 minutes but worth the drive. It's beautiful. There are a lot of kayakers and the beach is nice. If you go the the cliffs there are seals. The hike there is very pretty and not too strenuous. Definitely glad we went.

One of our family reunion stops was a picnic and fun at La Jolla Shores. We set up picnic tents on the beach and tried our hand at boogy boarding. The water was approximately 75 degrees, so on this windy day it was pretty chilly, not what we are used to at our local lake in Missouri. The waves were great for body surfing and boogy boarding. The wind was challenging for the picnic, but we managed just great. Bring sweatshirts/hoodies or blankets for the little ones. We had to dodge plenty of sea weed, but had fun none the less. The lifeguards wouldn't let us set up a beach volleyball net, so that sped up our retreat from what was planned as a lovely afternoon on the beach.

Nice shore and beach in a small but beautiful town. Lots of sea lions lying on the beach. Taking a trip there is a good break from the city life.
