Description: SpecialtiesThe Whisknladle Crew is pleased to welcome you to Prepkitchen. Prepkitchen was inspired by our never-ending quest to make our food from scratch and then driven by physical limitations of Whisknladle's tiny kitchen. At first it was nothing more than chicken scratch and a logistical nightmare but over time it blossomed into what it is today; our casual quick bite eatery, take out joint and gourmet market.Soups - Salads - Sandwiches - Antipasti - Entrees - Fresh Pastas - House Cured Meats Artisan Cheeses - Beer - WineMeet the Business Owner: Arturo K.What first started as an off the cuff partnership between a hungry & talented chef (Ryan Johnston)in need of a kitchen and a desperate culinary school drop out in need of a chef (Arturo Kassel) hasblossomed over the last 4 years into Whisknladle Hospitality.Together with our committed and passionate managing partners and our patient angel investors (?), we've continued to grow from one small and ambitious little restaurant to a small little restaurant group with even bigger ambitions.Since opening Whisknladle's doors in 2008, our company's mission has been to bring good food, good wine & great people together.Culinarily speaking, we take a back to the future approach to cooking by working with seasonal & farm to table products and taking the time to make most of our food from scratch; the way it used to be, they way it ought to be.

We had a lovely dinner outside with friends. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The menu is a bit limited, and there may not be enough of a selection for some, but we enjoyed our meal. Very accommodating.

Food was fabulous and very fresh. Chicken was delicious. Seating was cozy, but comfortable. Waitress was knowledgeable, helpful, and very pleasant. Will definitely return.

Tonight we dined at the Prep Kitchen. It is a small local restaurant specializing in farm to table cuisine. It meet or exceeded all our expectations. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was very fresh and of excellent quality with reasonably sized portions. We started with the soup of the day, an Indian spiced lentil soup. Then we shared the grilled asparagus (amazing!) and the special of the day - Scallops. The only negative I saw was initially we requested to be seated inside because it was cool and foggy outside. I found the inside metal chairs to be freezing and uncomfortable. They quickly accommodated our request ti move outside. Sitting in the comfortable patio furniture under and outdoor heater turned out to be much more pleasant than indoors and warmer. Overall a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Prep Kitchen provides an alternative to the many other La Jolla Restaurant Choices including the outstanding "sister" restaurant "Whisk'N'Ladle". The causual cafe-like setting of Prep Kitchen offers a wide variety of dinner choices that are creative and incredible well prepared. You cannot go wrong with a meal here. Although there are a few inside table opt for the outdoor seating adjacent to the restaurant - heaters supplied if needed - and just enjoy the meal and conversation (that you can hear) with your dinner companions.

This refers to the PrepKitchen in Del Mar, but I didn't see it on TripAdvisor, so I posted it at this other PrepKitchen location.

I was in Del Mar with my dad and a friend last Saturday, and the hotel recommended this place. We go there and there was a ~30 min wait. Well worth the wait!!
Because the place is small, they seated us at a larger table that we shared with another couple.

We ordered several plates to share, and everything was delicious!
We had a cheese & meats plate, an incredible octopus, a lamb, and a couple more dishes accompanied by great beers. We ordered the bread pudding (one of the best I've had), and since they saw that we enjoyed the dinner so much, the manager sent us an extra dessert so we would try something else!!!

Definitely worth going back!!
