“G&Ts and Tapas”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Stopped in during a stay in La Jolla. We travel in Iberia often so couldn't resist checking it out. We had a few tapas and they were satisfactory. They have a nice selection of specialty gin and tonics. We tried a couple and they were good. Nice terrace with partial view of sea. Good service. Staff is friendly. We would go back.

“Not to set high expectation”
Reviewed 6 February 2014

We were there on a Sunday night. We ordered a variety of Tapas. All portion were large for a Tapas, we wasted some food. Wish the waiter had warn us in advance. All all the dishes we had were ok but nothing stands out. The waiter indicated the ox tail is a great choice, but it tasted like pulled pork. I was disappointed.

“Overpriced, under sized plates, had ran out of everything”
Reviewed 25 December 2013 via mobile

Well we looked at the menu and thought
That it could be good, it was happy hour after all.
We had a lovely, pretty australian (?) bartender and she told us what she liked on the menu and made us fresh lovely well presented margaritas mmmmm.
The food took forever, we had some bread and aioli to help, bread was cheap but the aioli was fantastic.
Finally the tapas came...... pass me the salt and pepper....... average. Chewy calamari (sent it back, the bartender took it off the bill), bland potatoes (hot sauce improved it). The sausage was good but thats easy enough.
And then the paella came....was great just TINY, the menu said its for 2 people..... I'm a small woman and could have downed the paella for 2 myself. Needed more seafood and chorizo..... and rice!
We were overall disappointed but the bartender made it a much better experience . Too expensive for the quality of food, at least get good bread!!
That's not hard right??
Maybe were just paying for the expensive decor

“Iberico Spanish Bistro : worth a visit”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

On main street in La Jolla. Outdoor escalator to second floor. Plenty of seating, including gas flame heated outdoor terrace.
Service excellent. Large variety of tapas (small plates of hors doeuvres) such as :
Croquettes, Padron peppers, baby squid in ink, octopus in garlic/oil, mussels with sausage, selection of grilled spanish sausage, etc. The grilled morcilla (blood sausage) is recommended.
Prices are reasonable and food tastiness/quantity was OK, of course not the same as in Spain due to local ingredients, etc.
