When I was in San Diego with my husband recently, we were incredible fortunate to find this gem of a sandwich stand at the North Park farmers market. I had 'The Yard' which is a delicious pesto and chicken sandwich on a fresh ciabatta roll and it was amazing. We live in NYC and have very high standards for a proper deli sandwich and this exceeded those by a mile. My husband had their classic pastrami sandwich (called The Forklifter) and it was also delicious. They cure and smoke their own meats, make all their own sauces and get fresh bread each day from a local bakery. All the produce is organic, the meats are all hormone and steroid free, and the chicken is free range, which makes for an amazing gourmet deli experience. These sandwiches can also be found at Hess Brewery and if you are in the neighborhood it is well worth a try. Find them online and follow them everywhere, they are absolutely worth the trip.
