Highly recommended to me by a local person. It was a pretty quiet night early when I arrived around 6pm, but it really picked up over the next hour. Sat at the bar and had one of the best NY Strips I've had in a long time! Service, food quality and presentation were all excellent. Also, the wine list was comprehensive and the bartender knew how to pair the wine with the food. I had a truly enjoyable dinner at George's. Too bad it was dark, as I have heard that the view would have been fantastic.

This is one of our favorite places in La Jolla, and have been here a number of times. Last Friday my wife and I were there at the Ocean Terrace, which is outside overlooking the cove, the seals and just gorgeous. We had a late lunch/early dinner. One the best dishes to get there are the Mussels, they are done on a grill and served on a hot cast iron skillet. They have a great smokiness to them. We also shared a Faro salad and Fish tacos. All recommended.

One thing is the Mussels are only available on the dinner menu. We ate the other dishes first, and the waiters were perfectly happy to close out lunch bill and open up a dinner bill for the Mussels a little later.

Just a wonderful place, in a great area.

We went there by the recomendation of a local who stays with us in uk . He said if you go to la jolla this place is a must .
He even got the reservation done for us , we were 5 ppl altogether . Went to the rooftop bit . The staff was excellent and gave great advise about the food and drinks. The food definitely lived up to our expectations, a unique twist to every dish. A must go!!!

I initially read some of the reader reviews and went there with mixed feelings. However, any misgivings we hd were soon put to rest. The hostess seated us promptly and with a beautiful smile. An excellent start.

Our waiter soon came and explained the menu to us. We each had the four course tasting menu with each course being better than the one before. Even though the meal was a little pricer than I would have liked, I felt like it was worth every penny.

Our waiter was a bit of a foodie and delighted in explaining and describing the food. You could tell he was really in his element. I think his name was Mark.

We ate inside so there was no problem with the seal smell. The ambiance was what you would expect of a restaurant of this type. Even though the restaurant was full, conversation was easy and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

We dined on a week night, a group of eight friends. Service was very good: pleasant and explaining the dishes well. There was no major smell problem when we were there.

The one thing that was less than great was the food. Main dishes were good, appetizers were particularly disappointing: The corn pudding dish was too sweet, and did not work well with the onions and crab meet, the 'fish taco' was disappointing. The main dishes were better.
