“Don't make a special trip to La Jolla for this.”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Mt. Soledad is a scenic location coupled with a Veterans' Memorial. We visited on a clear and windy day. It was a lovely temp in La Jolla but so much cooler at the mount we were not able to spend much time perusing the memorials (and we are from upstate NY and know cold!) so bring a sweater or jacket for the visit. The view of the Pacific was beautiful but the view of San Diego was shrouded in smog. I don't know if this is a chronic problem but it was the day we were there.
The view from The Cabrillo National Monument was much more impressive. If you are choosing between the two I would recommend Cabrillo.

“Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial Is A Nice Place!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

We visited Mt Soledad Veterans Memorial and it was a very nice place. Patriotic, though provoking, reverential...very tasteful! The huge cross that adorns the memorial is something to see! Very appropriate for this monument! Very touching to study the walls and to see the faces of those who so bravely served our country! Thank you to each one of them and to their families! How grateful we all should be! The grounds are beautiful....the view is amazing and was especially breathtaking at sunset!

“If you only have time in La Jolla for three things, this should be one of them.”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

Location, location, location, magnificent 360 views!! Can be very windy, easy drive up, ample parking when you get there, and no real hiking required. Allow 60 to 90 minutes on a week day.

“Beautiful view”

The views of San Diego in all directions are spectacular. Drive up Mount Soledad and then down to La Jolla to see much more.
