I haven't stayed here for 20 years at least. I was curious to see the changes since the property's experience with "Hotel Impossible". The result is very positive. Our room was a 1 bed suite with a full kitchen and a nicely appointed bedroom/living room. We had a perfect balcony view of Scripps Park and the Cove from room 143. La Jolla village is just as beautiful as always, with tons of specialty shops and restaurants, one should never be bored. The only disappointing item had nothing to do with the Hotel or the village. The entire Cove area from the Children's beach to the Cave has been taken over by Seals, Pelicans, and Seagulls. While they are interesting to watch, the stench from their "bodily functions" can be anywhere from very annoying to outright gut wrenching - and our visit came AFTER a "cleanup" that was the page one story in the La Jolla local newspaper. I can't imagine what it smelled like BEFORE.
There is no on property dining or room service, however there is a modest, free continental breakfast from 7 - 10AM on the roof with very nice views.More
