This hotel is in the center of La Jolla and you have easy access to all of the local restraunts and shops...the rooms are nice...rooms are large enough...large flat screen TVs..the place has been nicely renovated and has an elequant look about it...dark woods...upscale furnishings...reception and lounge is small and comfortable...the parking is valet and cost $18 a day...all of the staff are pleasant and helpfull...I will return...

Room Tip: The rooms in the back seem to have the best views of the ocean...

Awesome location, equally great staff and top notch continental breakfast free of charge! The front desk staff is first class all the way and we look forward to our next stay at The Empress.

While the Empress of La Jolla is close to our first grandchild, it is the outstanding, friendly treatment we have received from the entire staff that makes us return. Allen and Eric at the desk have welcomed us from the first of our weekend visits... they make us feel like family. The rooms are always impeccable (with fresh air!); the cleaning and breakfast staff are so friendly and genuinely helpful, They take pride in their work and their hotel and give new meaning to "Enjoy your stay!" And... the location in La Jolla cannot be beat. We love it!

Room Tip: upper floors west offer glimpse of ocean.

We always stay in 'Name hotels' so we know what to expect- both accomodations and cost. Found this by accident and it was really nice. Great first impression and they didn't disappoint. Lovely area, so much to walk to, pretty lobby. We stayed in standard- not suite- w King bed. Bathroom was all redone- travertine and glass- very nice! Bedding was perfect. Nice little sitting area. Room was clean, nicely done, had everything we needed- even discovered a small ocean view when we threw back the curtains in the morning. Breakfast was included in our price- basic but much more than promised- served on an outside deck- great way to start the day. Staff was so friendly and helpful. 2 blocks from cute dt area w lots of food and shopping along the way. 2 blocks other direction to the ocean. no complaints!! would definately stay here again. (We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant- seemed very pricy, limited menu... Lot's of ppl there the 1st night who looked happy tho.)

Room Tip: 4th floor south side had small ocean view. we were opposite end from elevator so had no hall noise...

The location was great, just a few blocks from the beach, easy access to the shops and restaurants in La Jolla. The front desk staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, including a late checkout. Rooms are clean and spacious with large window . There was a fridge in the closet iron and big plasma TV. I had two queen beds in and good quality free wifi. continental style breakfast was nice, they have waffles, eggs, cereal, bagels, and pastries with coffee and juices, but after a almost week it got boring. Manhattan restaurant is located downstairs with big fish tank. Only disadvantage -no free parking guarantee. You can park on the street what is almost not impossible in work hours or pay 18$ per day. I highly recommend staying at the Empress.

Room Tip: Room on the top floor have great view.

We were going to stay in San Diego, but got a tip from a coworker of my husband's to stay at the Empress. What a great value, great location, great service and even a great continental breakfast. It was clean and quiet and everyone went out of their way to be helpful. Jason and Ben were great! We will definitely return.

This is my 3rd time staying at the Empress hotel and my 3rd time being completely satisfied with my stay. All of the staff (i.e. Jason, Ben & Brandon & the young ladies) were thoroughly the best! More helpful and willing to assist than ever expected. Ben is the Best! Each time he (Ben) makes sure this MS girl finds her way around safely. The breakfast crew and cleaning staff were eager to make sure I had what i needed. I asked for a banana for breakfast one morning (there were none); the next morning there were bananas!!! I would NOT change a thing...I'm so looking forward to my next trip to California..and the Empress is where I'll be staying!
