I accompanied my husband on a business trip here and absolutely loved our stay. Our room was on an upper floor which was clean, modern and roomy with a wonderful view. I spent quality time in the fitness center and pool which were very well maintained, brand new equipment complete with flat screens on each bike, elliptical and treadmill.
We had valet parking and the attendants were courteous, polite, attentive and informative. They opened my door, offered us water, directions and maps. I also thought it was a nice touch to add outdoor seating to wait for your vehicle.
The lobby was inviting and fresh. The front desk receptionists were friendly and quite helpful. You could clearly see they loved their job. The bar/grill located in the lobby was convenient and added a level of comfort offering tranquil seating arrangements with access to TV's. This is also a pet friendly hotel, actually it's pretty much a pet friendly town. Room service was also tops, they have this amazing steak dinner you have to try when you visit.
Now for the best part of my stay, my husband is a Marriott Rewards member so we were able to utilize the Concierge Lounge. This is where I met Amelia and Bilal. They were incredible and wonderful. I can not toot their horn any louder. Each and every morning they greeted everyone who walked through the Concierge Lounge door with a huge smile and hello, AND they remembered our names after the first time! I looked forward to breakfast every morning just so I could chat with them, and the food was incredible too! They had genuine interest in how I was and what my plans for the day were, as they were equally excited with everyone else in the room at the time. Most guests here are on business of some sort, however, Amelia and Bilal made everyone feel right at home. I'm a photographer and was thrilled when they invited me to take pictures of the sunrise from the private concierge balcony. Amelia and Bilal were excited, proud and treasured working for Marriott and it showed in everything they said and did. I thank them for making my stay memorable and welcoming.
There is an outdoor mall basically right across the street within walking distance along with several restaurants. There was a Farmer's Market in the parking lot near the Marriott which I believe was there once a week. The La Jolla beaches were just a short drive away, and well worth it. This Marriott is centrally located for all the sight-seeing you can handle.
I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel as a #1 stay for the San Diego/La Jolla area.
