“If You Want to Play Torrey Pines, Do It From Here”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

The accommodations were better than expected. Large and comfortable room but the promised million dollar view was obscured by two large pines that ruined that. The lodge's arrangement with this highly regarded public play golf course allows them to have a few tee times each day to dole out to guests. For us , it was the only reason to stay here.

This is a nice hotel with good service, attractive common areas and a very good restaurant. If we ever want to play Torrey Pines again, this is where we will be.

A genuine favorite location and facility. Outstanding service at a very special hotel.

Great facilities, excellent food, and very exceptional service are part of the ambiance of this extraordinary hotel.

A relaxing environment differentiates this facility compared with other truly exceptional hotels. Have enjoyed each and every visit.

My husband and I spent four wonderful and relaxing nights at The Lodge at Torrye Pines for our babymoon. The lodge and grounds were absolutely beautiful!! From the moment we arrived at the lodge, the service was fantastic and we were always greeted with a smile and friendly faces. We did the valet parking which was $30 a day as opposed to self park which was $25. The concierge was very helpful with resturant suggestions and they were always friendly. The rooms were rooms and bathrooms were very spacious. We had a room overlooking the garden with a balcony and it was nice to sit outside in the morning and enjoy the fresh La Jolla air! :) We ate breakfast one morning at the grill and had a great view of the golf course. The food was great as well! The lodge really does lives up to it's 5 diamond award! I would love to come back and stay here and play golf next time!

My husband and I spent 3 fabulous nights at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in February! Our balcony overlooked the 18th hole! My husband golfed every day, I was able to take a free yoga class at the lodge, hike the Reserve down to the ocean, and go to the Lodge spa for a wonderful treatment! We will definitely return!

Room Tip: We had an amazing room with a balcony with views of the ocean and 18th hole. The fireplace was grea...

I was hesitant about taking a family vacation at a golf resort, and I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the staff was to my kids and how they went out of their way to accommodate every need that we had. It is a very family friendly resort, with exemplary service at every end. Natalie, the concierge was extremely helpful and proactive in offering services and recommendations for us. From car service to Del Mar to providing toys for our children to use at the beach, the service was top rate! Our room did not have an amazing view, but was extremely spacious and had a very comfortable bed. The food and service at A.R. Valentien was equally amazing. For an elegant getaway, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a great choice.

Our six day stay was a first class experience! Our room was spacious, bed very comfy and the large balcony was an added bonus overlooking the golf course. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff who were genuinely interested in making our stay a positive experience. We got up early to walk and even the groundskeepers greeted us with a smile! We travel often and I would say that the staff at Torrey Pines were among the best ever-especially in the Grill restaurant. We were here for a conference and when we had a medical emergency with one of our participants, the front staff acted quickly and with great sensitivity to our needs. If I have one suggestion, it would be to offer an option of smaller portions of food in the Grill-food was fabulous but just too much (and I love to eat!)! We enjoyed our experience so much that we plan a return trip with our adult children in the near future!

Room Tip: You definitely want a room in the main lodge overlooking the golf course to enjoy the sunsets and if...

Came for a weekend getaway and for some running and hiking at Torrey Pines State Park which was in walking distance so we didn't have to fight the crowd for parking. The hotel is very well maintained nice small touches that made the stay special. I was surprised to see the dated wall paper in the bathroom. Over all a great week end and we will definitely come back.

Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 14 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for six years in a row, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical- and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
