The Legacy Villas are very nice and the pools are great for young children. However, we were not happy with the unit that we rented. The management company failed to tell us that the lock box was hidden and it took us 30 minutes to locate it. We tried contacting the management company when we arrived, after initially realizing the lock box was not attached to the door or anywhere visible, but they were gone since it was a Friday and only an answering service took a message for us. The villa was nice enough, but it lacked many things. First of all, after the first day we ran out of paper towels in the kitchen and then toilet paper and tissue in one of the bathrooms and there was no extras anywhere in the unit. Secondly, since we were traveling with children, we stayed in the until for most meals and the kitchen was poorly stocked. Lots of plates and glassware, but lacking some basic kitchen essentials if you are planning to actually cook a meal. Also, it said that there were BBQs on the property for use, but after a long search, we gave up and cooked our food inside. Even though the property was nice, our trip was tainted by all the little irritating things that kept popping up. I would probably stay here again, but not the same unit or management company.

We stayed three nigths at the Legacy Villas with another couple and 2 young kids. The rooms (aka condos aka villas) are very nice. 1700ft2, 3bed/3bath, newly furnished with full kitchens. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with many pools and fountains. Nothing bad can be said about the grounds or rooms. The only negative is that you are seperate from the main La Quinta Resort and Spa. It's about a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk, but you definitely leave the Resort property to go the Legacy Villas. There is no on-site restuarant, bar, tennis, or spa at the Legacy villas. All are at the main resort.

So, if you're ok staying away from the resort and using your own kitchen, you'll love it. If you're looking for the resort/hotel experience, it is not for you...

We just spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Legacy Villas in La Quinta with friends. We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo with our friends (rented thru a private owner www.laquintavillas.com). The condo was clean, beautiful, comfortable, and everything seemed new.

The Legacy Villas are right next to a beautiful mountain which my husband and kids hiked to the top of. The complex has multiple pools, and my kids enjoyed the main pool & spa the most. We spent hours there each day.

I could go on and on about how lovely and amazing our stay was, but I will close by saying how I can't wait to go back to the Legacy Villas for another vacation with our friends.

This property is a little confusing as you can see by the previous review. It is a complex, much like the spa villas at La Quinta Resort proper, but is privately owned and is much different. The rooms are fashioned after the spa villas. The Kitchens are beautiful with granite counters and stainless appliances. There is a lovely dining table that seats 6. The unit comes with a bedroom with a full bed in the bedroom. You can add two additional bedrooms. A king bed room that is similar to the "Deluxe Casita" at the resort and a queen bed room that is like the "Resort Room" at the resort. You can rent them individually or as a three bedroom unit.

That being said, we found the condo through an owner based site that advertises rentals. The unit we stayed in was "2745" and the owner was wonderful to deal with. You book through her, but register at the front desk upon check in.

The unit was a downstairs unit facing one of nine pools. My husband and I went mid-week in October and virtually had the place to ourselves. There was no one there. It was wonderful.

The room was clean. We did notice dust in the filter for the A/C, but we called the front desk of the resort and they were there within the hour to replace it.

The only downside is that if you compare it to the Spa Villa at the resort, you will notice a "charm" that I believe only comes with the age of the units. Also, the Spa Villas are much larger, roomier than the legacy villas. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and we will be going again.

Just returned from La Quinta's "Legacy Villas". The resort was fully booked for the weekend, and the LQ reservation desk offered the brand new "legacy villas" "adjacent" to the resort as an alternative. Well, we figured how bad could it be if it's part of La Quinta, right? OK, the legacy villas are not anything like LQ. Even though I have had some less than perfect experiences at the LQ resort, the legacy villas are just well below the standards of the resort. It is like staying in an apartment complex. The buildings are too close together, the walls of the units are really thin, the rooms are SMALL, there is no attention to detail. There are no citrus trees or nicely manicured lawns either. You literally have to drive to the resort if you want to make use of the amenities at LQ.

The king room that we booked was tiny by LQ standards. The feeble shower head gave a mere trickle of water. The only mirror in the unit was the half mirror above the single basin sink in the bathroom. Not a big deal for my husband, but a hassle for me as I had to stand on top of the toilet seat lid to see if my outfit worked. The central air vent is positioned in such a way that it blasts you out of sleep and pounds down on you continuously, but being summer in the desert, turning it off is not really an option. After not sleeping due to the whole pounding AC thing, I was awakened at around 7 a.m. by these screaming kids next door. The thing is, though, they sounded so loud that I thought they were outside in the courtyard. But they were in the unit next door, behind closed doors. I had noticed that I could hear the TV and conversation of the people in that room the night before. Really thin walls. The pool was thankfully not crowded, but the pool generator or something was really noisy and detracted from the atmosphere. Each of these things on their own would not have been a big deal, but combined, they made the property unenjoyable.

If you are at all a fan of the LQ resort, do not stay in the legacy villas. They are just really disappointing and completely lack in character. We had actually been to LQ in early May during high season and thought the resort was getting its act together. I guess the extortion prices of high season keep the crowds at bay. At any rate, the legacy villas were certainly not worth fighting the traffic from LA and completely lack the LQ charm.

That said, if you are only in La Quinta to golf, the rooms are perfectly adequate and clean, and that property is uncrowded.

Since Jun3 2007 the remaining units at Legacy have been completed and the dust and other construction annoyances have disappeared.

The complex has matured beautifully and many guests prefer it to the La Quinta Hotel or Spa Villas.

Recent reviews have been much m0re positive.
