This is a great park, with lots of walking and beach areas, but it has a downside as you have to pay through the nose to park - and there is very limited parking. And, with the ritzy Pelican Resort a short distance away, you unfortunately share it with a lot of snobs whose whole purpose for being there is to be seen and heard. Find a more friendly, and less snobby, beach/park by going south past Laguna and hitting either Dana Point or San Clemente, or points in between.

I understand Crystal Cove was a small community years ago and there are still the original beach huts, there is one main restaurant, unfortunately we didn't book and the wait was at least an hour. There is a beach bar, washrooms, a small gift shop. Parking is across the highway around 10 mins walk. The beach is wonderful.

This place is like a little world away, the cottages that were built and now owned by the state are great. We were able to get to stay for one night and it was amazing. Try to do it if you can get a reservation.

Our first visit to the cove..... such a pretty spot. You pay a flat fee for all day parking.... $15, I think. Like many others, we were there to see the tide pools and were not disappointed. Kids were playing happily on the beach but it was just beautiful and quiet. Parked our car across the street and took the tram to the historic area. Wandered around a bit and checked out the cottage where Beaches was filmed. A bit disappointed that it wasn't open the day we visited. Grabbed some drinks at the roadside stand above. A lovely spot
