“Love the Shores”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

Small, sweet rooms, cute little kitchens, superb location right across from Heisler Park. You can watch sun rise and set from the ocean view studios (not all the studios have ocean views). I think if you had binoculars you might be able to watch whales and dolphins from the veranda. We adore it here, and come every year. You might not like it if you get a room near the highway, or if the noise of pedestrians from the park, and garbage trucks, street sweepers etc. bothers you, but really the beauty of the amazing location just sweeps those concerns away for us. Blocks from Las Brisas, Madison Square Garden, and the Laguna Art Museum, and walking distance of downtown Laguna. Bring a picnic, a bathing suit and a good attitude, and just sink into the beauty.

Room Tip: Reserve far in advance for an ocean front studio, or buy a timeshare week.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments of your stay with The Laguna Shores. It certainly sounds like you had a great time. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our accommodations and amenities. We enjoy hearing from our guests and their feedback about our property. We could not agree more with your comment about the resort being in a superb location as the beauty of the ocean is just footsteps away in addition to the local attractions. We are extremely overjoyed to know that we exceed your expectations. We look forward to your return soon.

Wonderful location. The hotel is located across from the beach. There is a park with a great path to walk along with amazing views of the ocean. Short walk to restaurants and shopping. If don't want to walk there is a free trolley. Room has a beach feel. Full kitchen. My room had a Murphy bed. It was super comfy but if that bugs you you may want to upgrade. I could sit on my couch and see the ocean. I thought it was a good deal,$89, for what I got....a relaxing 3 days!!

My husband's family has owned a timeshare here for most of his life. For the last 9 years, we have been coming with our children. We just got back from our last visit two days ago. What a great time we had. First off, this location is ideal, right next to Heisler Park and a short walk to Main Beach and the town. The complex is clean and well maintained for a beach property. I did have problems with the dishwasher leaking, but they came and fixed it immediately. Every unit we have stayed in has been slightly different, so it pays to ask alot of questions when booking. There are several units that do not have views, and can be quite hot in the summer. We love that the resort has free popcorn and ice cream on certain days and times, as well as other planned activities. Having a self-serve laundry facility is very helpful with the beach clothes and kids stuff. They have quiet hours after 10PM, but you can swim in the pool and relax in the spa until then. The place has been very quiet for us over the years. The bulk of the noise we have heard is from the folks at the park, early morning fitness buffs, dog walkers, and the endless stream of weddings. The windows shut out most of it, but who wants to close their windows at the beach? I do like that they changed their procedure with housekeeping. Now they come everyday to refresh any towels you need, and to make the beds. The parking is challenging, you can only have one car, and the spots can be tight. The beds are quite comfortable, firm and nice linens. The couch bed is awful. I made that mistake sleeping with our sons on our last night. I did hear they will be doing some updates on the property next year, I just don't know what will be involved. Hopefully new couch beds. Overall, I have only the best things to say about Laguna Shores. We will continue to enjoy year after year of happy days in our favorite getaway.

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful things you had to say about our resort. We love hearing from our guests and owners that they had a terrific time while they were here with us. We sincerely hope that you will be joining us for years to come and that every thing continues to be pleasant with your stay. As you are aware, we will be undergoing renovations next fall included in this will be new couches, which will include a new pull out bed. After the renovations are complete we hope that your stay here with us will be even more wonderful. And we look forward to seeing you for years to come.

I booked this because I had a meeting in Laguna Beach. It is a tiny complex of bungalows and gardens. I bet it was build in the twenties. Anyway, I just loved it. You can't beat the location across from Heisler Park with amazing views of the of the dramatic coastline. I walked everywhere and enjoyed the town and local fare. It is quiet and away from the busy, sometimes loud main beach.
I would go again and park my car and never use it. It is a delightful little cup of tea.

Room Tip: Try to get a room near the Heisler park side of the hote.

We thank you very much for your recent review, and we appreciate the discerning “eye” you have focused on the many details that make Laguna Shores “in demand” and very, very special. As you aptly point out, three of the more important features of Laguna Shores are, in no particular order: 1) Location 2) Location and 3) Location. Your estimation as to the age of the project is equally accurate, as portions of our beloved facility do in fact date to the first half of the twentieth century. We hope you will share your kind comments about your experiences at the resort with your acquaintances, it is our hope that they will be as pleased when they visit with us as you have been. As we are fond of saying: If you like to have fun with your family, come to Laguna Shores, your friends are already here. Thank you!

Only if a hotel is on the sand, could it beat this spot. Laguna Shores is actually a timeshare, converted from kitchenette rentals years ago. There are rentals available when an owner doesn't show up or puts it in the rental pool. There are one bedrooms, plus large and small studios. Its a collection of several 2-story buildings. The 1-bedroom and large studios are fairly roomy and have full kitchens. The units are clean and the staff surely love working here. There is a pool and hot spa. The ocean views from the Cliff Drive-fronting units are spectacular. These overlook Cliff Dr., Heisler Park - and the ocean. That's it. The park has many walkways, picnic tables & BBQs and several stairways down to the beautiful beach and tidepools. And views of Laguna's famous cove shoreline down to Main Beach and beyond. There is a small ampitheater directly across in the park that features musicians in the warmer months. Oh, and sunset or its colors (depending on the month).

Walk 3 minutes through the park (unless you linger for some Kodak moments) to Las Brisas for their week-day brunch or happy hour - and more views. A bit beyond, wind your way to Main Beach and Laguna's downtown and the world is yours. Besides the Whole Foods in town, there is a Von's Pavillions a couple blocks in the other direction and a short, scenic drive to Trader Joes at Newport Coast's center. Plus more great restaurants there. You hardly need groceries in Laguna, or a car unless you want to sightsee or golf or use it as a base for inspecting the other ocean-front towns nearby. We live in nearby San Clemente - a great little beach town, but still enjoy a stay in Laguna Beach...there's nothing like it.

Sure, its not the Ritz - but - when you are perched on practically the edge of the ocean and can walk to Laguna's village - its a great find. We love going there (and we have stayed at the Ritz.) (We like that, too.)

Room Tip: If stairs are no problem, ask for a second floor room for the best views facing the water. If there...

Location is huge, both the complex & your unit. I have been a timeshare owner at Laguna Shores for many years and have been visiting Laguna Shores for over 20 years.

The location of the complex is fantastic. Steps away from the ocean. It's only a couple blocks (easy walking distance) to downtown Laguna with lots of restaurants & activities. The staff is great. The place is immaculate. I love it!

Now the negatives - not many. The units are small & the building is old. So if you want something new, large & modern you will not be happy. The units look a bit tired. Everything is exceptionally clean & updated but it is old. I don't see this as a negative, but others might. (Note: A major remodel is in the works for next year that should help.) My only real pet peeve is that some units have great views & some have none. So the challenge is getting a unit with a view. I work this hard and always get a nice unit.

Bottom line - This is a nice place in a great location. I highly recommend it. Just make sure you know where your unit is before you arrive.

Room Tip: Know your Room Location before you go!

I have stayed at Laguna Shores many times. This property is in a fantastic location. Heisler Park is right across the street with the most wonderful crooked tree! I had my picture taken there as a child and both my children have had pictures taken there. Laguna beach is a picturesque paradise overlooking the ocean. The office staff was very helpful and pleasan during our stay. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. All the units have a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook in and serve your meals if you so desire. Typically we've stayed in a condo at Laguna Shores with large corner windows looking out at the coastline. On our last trip here we booked through another company and was able to stay in the roof top condo (used to be the managers quarters). While the particular until we stayed in during this stay didn't have a view of the beach, it was perfect for our purposes. We simply were looking for a place to sleep.

We had to park our car off property. We were told it would be about a block away, but it was less than that, and a super easy walk. Just across the street and down one building.

There is a nice pool and hot tub to enjoy while staying there.

Taking the trolley around town is nice so you don't have to move your car and pay all the meters. There are several art galleries and shopping to be enjoyed.

Some must eat locations in Laguna beach are: Wahoo's fish tacos!!!!! We ate there almost every day for lunch or dinner. Scandia is a nice little bakery with lots of yummy treats. If you want to hop in the car and drive to Dana Point, you can't go wrong at John's fish and chips.

I hope you enjoy Laguna Shores as much as our family does!

Room Tip: If you are wanting a "view" don't stay in the former manager's unit on the roof.
