I came across this playground park while headed to "Top if the World". Now it's one of my favorite and the most beautiful views at a playground park besides Main Beach of course. It's a semi steep road up but the homes are beautiful. It has a big play ground with structures for each age group. It has swings but not the toddler ones if that's needed for you. Also has hiking trails and clean bathrooms which is a plus. If you're ever in Laguna Beach you have to make a stop here.

The view is awesome, as has been stated my most others and it was worth the long climb in the car to get there. But the trails were poorly marked in my opinion and, as a visitor, I wasn't sure how to gauge where to go or the nature of the trails in terms of difficulty. There is also no shade, so this fact must be considered when choosing to hike here.

With that said, I cannot wait to return after researching the trails and preparing better given that knowledge.

Looking for a good cardio and leg workout to Top of the World? Then this is it! Start early for parking along Canyon Vistas, but be mindful of residents in the neighborhood. The first leg is literally a walk in the park until the dirt trail takes over. Hiking in the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park involves sharing a number of trails with mountain bikers and horses so keep ears and eyes open.

Our semi-loop route wasn't very scenic, but it was challenging! We utilized the following trails to Alta Laguna Park: Wood Canyon (flat), Lynx (single-track and steep), Castle Rock Rd and West Ridge (steady uphill). Once a the top, rest, take in the view, and use the clean park restrooms. Many in our group returned via the shorter Cholla trail (6.6 mi r/t), but some took the longer, more challenging route via Rock-It trail (8+ mi r/t).

Comments: Bring water, snacks, look for trail signs as they are very easy to miss, stay together as cell service may be sketchy, and enjoy the great outdoors!

The views from this park, quite lovely with nothing blocking the views at all.
The toys for small children are available, making it ideal for young families. Seldom is this park overly crowded. From this park taking a glorious hike is possible on the natural trail where dear are often seen in the a.m. along with coyotes walking alone. Friendly hikers are there daily, more on weekends. Quite a fine small park.

I love this little park at the top of Laguna Beach, at the north end of Alta Laguna Blvd. (Drive up Park Avenue from Laguna Beach High School until it dead-ends and turn left. Drive a short distance and turn right into the park's parking area.) The park has a soccer and baseball field, six tennis courts, a half basketball court, walking trails, picnic tables, and a small playground. We met our kids and grandkids here for a summer afternoon of tennis, baseball, and a picnic dinner. By coming in the afternoon, we were able to avoid the day camps and parks and rec classes that make the park busier in the mornings. Parking is free.

The restrooms are adjacent to the well-maintained, free tennis courts. There are drinking fountains but bring bottled water in case you decide to take a little hike (also binoculars for the fantastic views!). There are ample picnic tables but precious few in shade among the trees and the lawn areas. The younger grandchildren enjoyed the small playground area while the older kids played tennis and baseball with the adults in our family.

Most everyone who visits this park (lots of locals walking their dogs) seems to live nearby and they tend to be super-friendly. So if you're feeling grumpy and non-social, this is not the park for you! Plan on watching small children carefully during your visit here due to the hillside drop-offs.
