It's not easy to open or run any kind of business in Laguna Beach, due to regulation, high rents and impractical parking requirements, but I've watched Adonis' owners persevere for over a year now. They have consistently turned out truly good food with reasonable prices and a great attitude all this time. With the recent addition of fries, gyro cookers and new menu signs, they're finally getting the patronage they deserve. For instance, at what looks like a simple gyro place, the paprika-reddened potatoes in the steam tray might seem an afterthought. They're the best item in the place! Don't miss them. Also, the heaping portions of meat, salads, pita, fresh crunchy falafel with a soft mealy interior, and spinach-cheese pastries are great. Laguna needs more beach-close affordable options, especially ethnic foods, and Adonis is making it happen.
