“Fantastic View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

We were in the mood for a beach view and The Cliff more than delivered. Sunset over Laguna Beach was beautiful. The food is pretty good, but the view more than delivers looking directly over Main Beach and the Pacific. They don't take reservations but they do have a "call ahead list". The wait was approximately 1 1/2 hours, we called ahead and only waited a 1/2 hour. It does get chilly once the sun goes down.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

We went early on a Friday night and enjoyed watching the sun go down over the ocean - a perfect view. We started with the avocado and salsa with a bag of Havachips which are made locally. Yum. Then I ordered the sea scallops on a bed of spinach and garlic mash - fantastic! We also ordered the pear salad with grilled shrimp which was very good. I really enjoyed my meal and the service was friendly and quick but not hurried.

“Spectacular view but attitude of waiting staff and some poor food quality”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

We went for early dinner. tables are allocated ona first come, first served basis. Table right by the edge which was great but "happy hour" as advertised only in the bar area.
great cocktails at usual O.C. Price and great starter of coconut shrimp. we asked for a pause between courses as I have restriction on how quickly I can eat.we should have stopped there as my husband ordered surf and turf( lobster tail). both steak and lobster were over cooked and bland, no steak knife offered, finally caught attention of server and one was delivered. I ordered the scallops, which were large and juicy but sadly not cooked, they arrived on a bed of watery spinach with the cooking liquor All over the plate. I asked for them to be cooked more and the same ones arrived back after my husband had finished his meal.Again they were lacking in seasoning. No apologies, no interest in whether everything was OK and a quick turnaround in just over an hour.
my recommendation , go to the bar area for happy hour, 3-6!!! And have discounted cocktails and half price starters.

“Beautiful location, decent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

My husband and I ate lunch here with friends on July 4. Of course, it was a madhouse, very crowded, so they had some issues getting everyone seated and served. In addition, the hostess and both bartenders were unnecessarily rude to us and it was unpleasant. :-( We also heard one of the bartenders talking with people next to us in the bar area about apparently messing up their order or something and they were asking for a discount. He said they are a small place and not used to big crowds, so they are unprepared. We patiently waited in the bar area for over one hour for our table (the hostess said it would be 20 minutes), where there was crowded, standing room only, and one person slow to clean what few dirty tables they had for people to sit and wait when they opened. They were also out of several items on the bar menu. Not sure why they didn't adequately plan in advance for this busy holiday weekend. Still, there's no reason to be RUDE to customers. Once we were finally called to our spectacular ocean view table, things got MUCH better!!! We had a GREAT view of the beach, our server was an absolute crack up, and the food was pretty good. We even ordered two desserts (bread pudding + New York cheesecake) and several cocktails. Needless to say, we dropped a lot of money when all was said and done, and we rolled out of there feeling very happy!

“Amazing Oceanside seating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

Had dinner at sunset & the views were amazing. Started with crab cakes that were very good. Husband ordered the shrimp pear salad that was very good & I had the scallops. Scallops were just ok, not seasoned very much & kind of bland. Garlic mash on side was really good. Service was A++.
