Dinner last night with my wife at Mandarin King. We were staying at the nearby Art Hotel and needed dinner before the Pageant of the Masters performance – most restaurants near the Pageant are crowed before the performance, so Mandarin King was a good option.
The food was quite good – started with a complementary Chinese salad – sans chicken. We order the lettuce wrapped chicken to share and my wife had a one person bowl of won ton soup. I opted for the fillet of fish with mixed vegetables. The fish was enjoyable and the vegetables were both fresh and cooked to perfection. The portion size for this dish was large and I opted not to touch the steamed rice – yet some of the dish was untouched at the end of the meal.
The service was prompt and quite friendly. This is obviously a locals favorite, as those picking up take away, and seated in the restaurant, all seemed to have a personal relation with the owners/staff.
A good recommendation for Chinese food in Laguna Beach.
