Restaurant is bigger than you expect from front and was busy when we visited on a Sat night, but no wait.
Pickles with Pappadum were not great. We asked for lime pickles and chutney but got some sliced red papers instead and nothing sweet.
For entree we chose Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Balti and selected both to be extra spicy.
The waiter impressively never wrote any orders down. However he instead kept coming back to confirm or just forgot stuff and was then ingratiatingly apologetic. So more annoying than impressive.
The Balti was excellent - just like back home (UK) where it originated. Naan was also good. Unfortunately the Vindaloo was dry and burnt. To offset or mask this it seemed to be over spiced with something - cumin? It was very hot but not pleasant at all. Prices were OK.

Thank NHstu

We compare Indian food in Orange County with Indian food in Jakarta and Singapore where we spend most of our time. We visited Natraj for dinner and ordered an old favorite, butter chicken, or chicken makhni as it was called on the menu. We were surprised to find that all of the cuts in the curry were dark meat, and one or two of them were tough. We asked the waiter why there was only dark meat, and he replied that jt is routine: chicken makhni is dark meat-only, and chicken masala is white meat only. Not sure who established the routine. We've never heard of it before. Also, we are used to butter naan or cheese naan, but they were not on the menu. So we ordered plain naan and of course could not eat the saffron rice that comes with every meal. The rice was only slightly yellow, indicating there was very little saffron in it. The naan was good but not very good. The paratha was enormous but not as tasty as we had hoped. Service was very good and friendly. The decoration is pleasant but basic. There were many customers both eating at tables and buying take-out. We are aware that we had only the butter chicken. Perhaps the other dishes are delicious, but we would have to rate the taste of our butter chicken as poor and the naan as better than average. Considering these disappointments modified by the friendly and very good service, our experience was average.

Thank you for the review. I am truly sorry that you were disappointed with your visit to Natraj Cuisine of India, Laguna Hills. We try to ensure that all of our guests have a memorable experience, but unfortunately things don't always go as planned.

It has always been our protocol at all of our 6 locations for the past 23 years that Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) is prepared with "shredded" dark meat tandoori chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala is prepared with white meat chicken tikka. I am sorry that you have never heard of this, however it is labeled as such in our menu. In regards to the bread, we offer "Paneer Kulcha" which is the cheese naan you desired, as well as butter naan (although not specifically mentioned, you of course may request for ghee to be added to your naan if you prefer).

We hope that you will take the opportunity to join us again in the near future and sample some other items from our menu. Please note that our staff will happily clarify any questions or concerns you may have while dining with us.

Kind regards,
Ajay Khosla

My fiance and I regularly go here to eat. Every time trying some thing new and it just keeps getting better and better. The wait staff is very polite and attentive. Food may take longer than usual to come out but, that's what you get when you have MADE TO ORDER food. You get quality and passion in each dish. Their curry is delicious and made with just the right spice for what you asked for. If you love hot dishes this is the place to go. Great atmosphere there as well with the decor and music. Just a great overall experience. Also the price point is perfect for the quality and amount of food you get and a great lunch buffet. They got it right!!!

Indian cuisine is one of my favorites and I was skeptical about this restaurant because of it being in a strip mall. I should learn by now that location has nothing to do with the experience or quality of food. The entire staff was friendly, courteous and professional. What amazed me was that so many diners were called by name and clearly many regulars and repeat visits. I could tell why, the food was authentic. From the nan to the Bhindi Jaipur to the Chicken Tikka Masala to Lamb Sagwalla.....all very tasty with good hints of different spices. Two reasons this review did not get five stars; the samosas were heavy and dough like, not light at all, although tasty and also, the dining room had at least four televisions, each with a different sport on. The two just do not seem to work well together....Indian food and television....personal preference. Apart from that, this will become a regular spot as it is so worth it! No need to drive far, this location is just right!

Your taste buds anticipate the coming pleasure as you smell the spices while you are walking through the parking lot to the front door. We were a group of four adults and asked our waiter to order for us. He was happy to do so, but brought pretty standard fair. Tandoori chicken, chicken tika massala, a cauliflower based vegetable dish, lamb in a creamy yogurt based sauce, and of course, rice and naan. The naan was the best part of the meal. The tika and lamb were average and the tandoori chicken was very dry. I wished our waiter had included an appetizer or two and also some raita to add moisture and flavor to the tantoori chicken and to enjoy with the rice and naan.
