Like taking a trip to Europe without the plane ride. Food, especially desserts are excellent.

Been going to Savoie's Fare for 10 years and never had a bad meal. Many delicate and savory dishes to choose from at breakfast, lunch, or dinner -- and the pastries are wonderful. Jacques and his staff always make us feel welcome, like old friends.

I think it was March of this year. We'd known beforehand that there was a bru-haha going on for over a year with the owner & the landlords over the space. We usually come for lunch and delicious salads & desserts. We thought we'd try dinner. Made a reservation. When we went right on time. Seemed more people than we're used to seeing that were seated. But you enter thru the bakery and we didn't see all the way back. There was a 3-some ahead of us who walked in and were seated (no reservations). Then we waited. Waited. Told the hostess no one had helped us but we had a reservation. She said it'd be 45mins. She saw us waiting behind the first party so...how does THAT work?! She gave away (perhaps) our table because...well, I don't know why. Another woman came over and looked at the list like it was 4th level calculus & said, "yeah...I don't know... Sorry."The owner/chef was there but he looked extremely frustrated. So... G'bye! Went down the street to Jack's which is FAR better "fare" and service.

I will clearly be the minority here...what the heck are you people thinking?

My friends and I showed up here based on some Yelp reviews…we were looking for a nice dessert/coffee place. Anyhow, upon entering were basically ignored…had to ask for a table-bad idea and we all knew it as soon as we walked into the dining room. The kitchen stunk (kinda like fried fish or something equally unappetizing) and when looking around the other diners didn’t seem exactly happy. We soldiered on and ordered coffees….and waited. The owner reappeared some time later and we finally were able to order desserts. It took a long while to get them (granted 2 were soufflés). I got the bananas foster and it was AWFUL. Like 2-bites and I am done. It was uber runny, the bananas were too ripe and they must have left it in the service window for a while because there was no ice cream…just a creamy white blob of melted goo. The souffles were passable and the vanilla cream sauce got high marks however. The service was abysmal and the place was not full (it took over one hour to get coffee and dessert).

Anyhow, we were all very disappointed and thought it was a waste of money.

If you haven't been to Savoie's Fare, you are missing a real treat. We have been there many times over the year's, and cant say enough good things about the food, pastries, service and owner. Its become more than a place to eat to the locals who patronize it often: you are treated like a family member. The staff is incredible. They get to know you, and truly take delight in having you back to visit the restaurant. If something isn't right, tell them. They go to great lengths to improve the experience for each patron.

Our family loves the sandwiches the best: Cheese steak, Teriyaki Sirloin Burger, Steak, and others. Salads are excellent. Dinners are superb. Pastries are unsurpassed.

As others have stated, the location is not great. But once you find it, and eat the food, you wont be disappointed.
