“Great sushi Rolls, but dont be fooled by the "All you can Eat"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012

Place was packed when we arrived around 8pm on a Friday night. For about 24 bucks a person you can order as many rolls as you like, including vegetable tempura, and teriyaki chicken. The catch is you only have 3 rounds to order. But make sure your eyes aren't larger then your stomach, if you leave food on the table they will charge you per roll. My advice is to order only as much as you think you can eat, you have 3 chances, so dont over due it or you will be looking at a hefty bill at the end. But you probably wont get to the last round. Good sushi, but if you are looking for a bit more of a verity of fish, there are better places in the area.

“All You Can Eat has its downside”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2011

I hate to down-grade a local restaurant in Lakewood, but the management here needs proding. My wife and I have eatten here numerous times. The food (exclusively sushi) is acceptable, but suffers from the "all you can eat" gimic. In order to protect themselves from profit loss, they only serve sushi rolls that maximize mayonnaise ladened filling to protect from serving too much sliced fish (sashimi) ingredient.

The other protection, and the biggest problem, is the requirement to eat everything you order. This might be reasonable to prevent waste, but the manager actually hovers around with an angry glare watching (lest you spit a mouthful into your napkin or your partner slip a bit of rice into her purse or something). I always compare this manager lady to the soup "guy" (family content) on Seinfeld, but she actually makes him look like a gracious host.

On a date at Joe's Sushi, they actually imposed the "over-order charge." Joe's has a rule that if you don't eat every morsel that you order, then you have to pay extra. We argued that the two rolls we didn't eat tasted horrible, but the manager wouldn't listen to reason. Why would a proprietor put their customer in the position of having a confrontation when you are out to have a good time?

Sorry Joes, but too many choices in Lakewood where you can get excellent Japanese food (Tokyo Hibatchi or I Luv Sushi) to put up with Sushi Domonique and her choices of spreads on rice.
