I read ALL of these reviews before staying at Tioga Pass Resort so I wanted to be sure and leave mine! We stayed here June 20-22, 2013. I wish we could have stayed longer. I emailed the address on the website and got a fast response for reservations (within one day). I was beyond excited! We all had an amazing experience. This little place is in such an awesome beautiful location. We stayed in Cabin 2 which was perfect for the 4 of us (two couples). Everything was clean, beds were comfortable..Shower was hot. Employees were awesome. Food was great! (only had breakfast but it was really good). I would recommend this place to everyone and will definitely be going back. They provide a heater, however we brought a little one as well because it gets pretty chilly up there the time of year we went. We drove to Yosemite at 4 a.m. to go hike half dome and seen a ton of Bambi's crossing the road. Be careful!! 5 stars for sure. Love love love love this place.

Room Tip: Cabin 2 is great if you don't need a kitchen. Perfect little getaway right in front of a peacef...

We stayed there because it was closest to Yosemite. We didn't have plans to go there, but it was early in the season, so we decided to take a chance. We stayed in cabin 4 with a tiny electric radiator type heater that did next to nothing-asked for an extra heater but was told "no". Too cold to even take a shower - snow still outside the door. We were charged $175 for this? Springs on bed did not make for a good night's sleep, along with the noise of little critters chewing on something in the room.Coffee filters but no coffee maker, even though we had packed coffee. Restaurant had decent food - no dinner menu this early in season (May 29). Would check out Lee Vining if going that way again.

Only 5 minutes from park entrance. We stayed in Cabin 5 for 3 nights and found they had everything we needed. Full kitchen, tiny bath. Portable electric heater, windows that open. Listened to the stream at night; no road noise. Unfortunately price had gone up $10/night from the time I booked the reservation. Restaurant serves fantastic meals. Large dinner portions and everything we had was delicious.

The management is self-satisfied and self-focused. The front desk staff will volonteer how tired all the work makes them.. They have their way, and that's it. Such basics as answering e mailed requests for reservations is an exampe of what doesn't fit their priorities. ( I sent a series of requests and never got an answer. Not even the courtesy of an automatic reply saying that they are booked.)
They do have a great location if you want to hike in the portion of Yosemite along the eastern part of the Tioga Road. If you want to adjust to high altitude, staying here will help.
That's why I persisted.
I recommend instead going to the large number of far more attractive and respectful places on the June Lake Loop. It's more of a drive for a few hikes but actually better located for the Eastern Sierra more broadly. And that drive is in any case lovely. Plus you'll have stores, restaurants, etc. (I also cannot recommend the food at Tioga Pass Resort; it's limited in choice and not outstanding. You'll have many better options further down the road.)

Stayed for 5 nights in cabin 1. Loved it. Perfect location for getting out early on some of the longer day hikes. Cabin has a great shower with nice hot water and a good bed. We did not use the kitchen. Note the pots and pans are limited. Ate breakfast every morning at the cafe. Food was great and reasonable. Good sandwiches for dinner, too. They give guests a lower price on breakfast. They also provide ice and filtered water for your water bottles. The folks that work there are very nice and helpful. Special thanks to Tiffany, Lynn, Jed, Jennifer, Henny and "MacGyver!" for talking such good care of us.

TPR is a special place.

Note: they take credit cards now.

Room Tip: You can zip into Lee Vining to eat, too. Takes 10 minutes. Several good restaurants there.

My friend and I stayed there August 2012. I made the reservation via e mail (no phone communication is possible) and therefore was not aware of the full details of what was included (or rather, not included...) For $140 a night we got a room (cabin 2) with one bed, a toilet and sink. As we were checking out we were told that the cabin has a shared shower, but we were not told about it beforehand and did not know it existed! (The young receptionist when we checked in was not friendly or helpful, and acted like we were bothering her). From there we moved to Mammoth, only about 20-30 minutes away, were we rented a 3 bedroom/2 bath fully furnished condo for $105 a night and had access to amazing hikes. I would recommend the latter...

What a way to see Yosemite, from a tiny cabin perched at 9,000 ft elevation. We planned a last minute trip and lucked into one night in cabin 1 before entering Yosemite. Next time we'll plan earlier and stay longer. It's a short drive to Tuolomne Meadows from here, there's a small stream gurgling past and great food in the cafe. I especially liked the pie. No phone, but e-mail response was prompt.
