“Comfortable place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2011

We stayed 3 nights on the "stay 2 get 3rd free" offer. Unfortunately our larger room was not available for the 3rd night, so we were in a very small room with a small double bed - cosy!! The bathroom was across the corridor! The service was pleasant & helpful - the place was clean & there was a pool & a very interesting jacuzzi; breakfast was gourmet style - but i did miss my toast & marmalade. No fridge or coffee maker in the rooms - but there is a communal area for making drinks & ice. The only downside is that it is situated on a busy road & the decore is a little worn & outdated - lace glued to the bathroom wall!! every picture & ornament is themed to "Gone with the Wind"

Room Tip: rooms facing the front - where there is a very small balcony face the road so are noisy these in...

This place was amazing from the room to the pool and lawns and the delicious meals by Chef Marie! After sight-seeing trips to Sequoia it was so wonderful to come back and get into the pool under the stars. The grounds were beautiful and it was so relaxing to just sit back and watch the birds. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Would highly recommend this place.

Front rooms are facing the road and are terribly noisy for sleeping. The hotel is full of vain old frills but not practical at all. The rooms are small, no table, no good chairs, no TV, no A/C, an inch gap under the doors and balcony doors. The house layout is crammed and the rooms have no sound isolation and therefore all the traffic noise wakes you up at 6 am in the morning. The smell of coffee or baking from kitchen wakes you up through an old conduit leading into the rooms in the very early morning as well. Bath is a bathtub in the room which may be erotic but not practical.
Breakfast is excellent in the company of flies, despite the attitude of the owners toward non-Americans.
I could not sleep well for 2 nights there, terribly tired and exhausted left the hotel...

We spent 3 nights at the Plantation and had a great time. We stayed in the Rhett Butler room which was small but very private. We read some of the negative reviews and while some of the criticism is true (slanted floor, small space) we found it more than acceptable and comfortable.

We found Scott and Marie very friendly and accomodating. Marie's breakfast lived up to the hype. The grounds are very well maintained and pleasant to stroll. It was warm so we spent a lot of time around the pool and enjoyed it immensely. We also used the spa when it cooled off. We recommend the Plantation to those who enjoy the B&B experience.

Having viewed the photos and reviews on line before our trip, we arrived at Plantation B & B with high hopes and were not disappointed. We were greeted by Scott who gave us a tour, a brief history of the house and a run down of all the local restaurants with a map showing distance, menus and prices. Our room was just as pictured, we chose the Rhett Butler room with the panoramic views and extremely large, comfortable bed. After dinner, we were able to check in with family back home on the free computer and internet then we enjoyed a soak in the hot tub watching the sun go down. Next day fresh coffee was brought upstairs for us and we were treated to the most delicious and satisfying breakfast, I skipped lunch as I just wasn't hungry despite walking around near-by Kings Canyon and Sequoia. Scott was once again very helpful and informative with tips on shortcuts, road-works and places not to be missed in the parks. We returned to enjoy the hot-tub again, slept well and looked forward to another incredible breakfast. Marie kindly wrapped up our left-overs which were too good to waste. Nothing was too much trouble and although we were lucky enough to be the only guests on both nights (first day without snow or bad weather) I have no doubt that the service would be just as attentive if the house were full. We had a wonderful time, highly recommended. We would love to return.

We called late in the evening and Scott was very accomodating. We really enjoyed the pool and hotub - especially at night staring at the starry sky.

The breakfast was wonderful. It took us just over an hour to get to General Sherman in Kings Canyon Park.

Overall a great place to stay for trips to Sequoia Parks.

My husband and I went on Memorial Day Weekend to go hiking in Kings Canyon. We had the "Mammy" Room. The room was decorated beautifully and had a fireplace and A/C. The landscaping there is just wonderful throughout. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub outside. The hosts, Scott and Marie made you feel very welcomed and comfortable. Do not miss out on the tasty homemade breakfasts! The breakfasts had excellent presentation and tastes just as good. From the fresh fruit, homemade granola, freshly squeezed orange juice every morning and a special breakfast Marie makes is out of this world. I would highly recommend this place as we plan go back again.
