We spent two nights at Plantation Bed and Breakfast and stayed in the Ashley Wilkes room. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The shower is super tiny and the only thing wrong was that there wasn't any soap in the soap dispenser. Other than that, the room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The highlight was breakfast each morning. Lisa is a fabulous cook and everything we ate was delicious. We left for our days in Sequoia National Park very full and really not needing to eat much until much later in the day. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside and talking with other guests. The grounds outside are beautiful and well maintained. We loved sitting out on the back lawn at night and looking at the stars and the full moon. That was so relaxing! Lisa was very nice and made us feel welcome. When we checked in, she gave us a tour of the property and we really enjoyed talking with her. If we are ever in the area, we would stay there again. Also, the winding road into Sequoia isn't that bad! It is a slow drive. I wouldn't want to drive it everyday, but don't let it scare you away.

The high points of the Plantation B&B are location and breakfast. Just 16 miles from the entrance to Sequoia National Park make it an ideal place to rest/relax after a day of hiking. The breakfast by Chef Lisa was the best we've had in any B&B (and we've visited many throughout the US). We enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the lovely property (in fact, as we left they were setting up for a garden wedding). New owners Lisa and Gregg were in their third week running Plantation, and were good hosts. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but the house will probably need a bit of updating/polish soon. Prices were reasonable, particularly for California. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a lovely view; avoid the downstairs room next to the livingroom, as it can be no...

Despite the Gone With The Wind motif which I am not a fan of personally, this Inn is very charming, clean and the courtyards behind the Inn are breathtaking. I stayed here a few years back. I was on a road trip with my cousins and we had been driving all day and came upon this place. The barefoot hostess welcomed us in with no reservation made and even cut us a deal for two rooms. For dinner she reccomended the restaurant down the road only a few miles away. I cannot remember the name of it but I think it was railroad themed and the food and drink was delicious! When we came back to the Inn we hopped in the hot tub. This place is so far from any city, there are no town lights to the stars really REALLY sparkle. Don't miss the quiet and stillness the courtyard offers at night and be sure to look at the stars. The morning breakfast was homemade and veryyyyyyy good. The barefoot chef even made a crumble from some of the home grown fruit trees from the courtyard.

The most prominent thing about the Plantation B&B is its "Gone With The Wind" motif, a theme that is played up quite a bit though not overdone ( and I say this as someone who never got into the novel or movie.) As you might have guessed, our reason for staying here was more for the location, which seemed to be a good jumping point to visit both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and close enough to larger towns if we found the more local dinner options unappealing. Also, the theme itself evokes romance, which is definitely the vibe we were going for our two nights there.

Lemon Cove isn't the biggest of towns, and it's easy to pass by this two-story building if you're not paying attention. Parking for your cars can be found on the south side against the fence of the dirt and pebble-lined driveway. The rear of the property has ample lawn space to roam around amongst the trees and flowers, or engage in a game of croquet or Frisbee. Between the building and the lawn sits the swimming pool, hot tub, garden courtyard and patio area where breakfast is served. The parlor downstairs has a TV, couches and a selection of movies for viewing as an entertainment option as well.

The guest rooms similarly follow the B&B's theme - we stayed in the Rhett Butler on the second floor. Positives to this room include a nice view of the mountains (and the requisite sunrises/sunsets) to the east. A noticeable quirk, which may be a negative in some people's minds, is that the floor near the window slopes slightly downward toward the window. As a result, the bed is up on blocks on one side to level it - a person of shorter stature will find it is a little harder to get up into bed from this side than the other, and the slope in general is noticeable while walking on this side of the bed. This room is adjacent to the common area, in which you'll find a refrigerator, microwave, computer, brewed coffee, and other guest-oriented accoutrements.

Breakfasts were solid - fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice, a delicious parfait plus yogurt, baked goods and a hot entrees (in our case, variations on frittatas) provided a tasty start to our travels.

The owners were very hospitable and helpful; one particularly nice tip we received warned us to take a nearby county road to avoid the majority of super-curvy State Route 245 (which can probably make even the most hardened of roller-coaster riders feel nauseous) on the way up to Kings Canyon and the Grant Grove in Sequoia NP. (For what it's worth, we went all the way to the much straighter State Route 63 on the way back and drove into Visalia for dinner.)

I'd say if you're intent on doing strictly Sequoia National Park and leaving Kings Canyon alone, there are a few B&B's that might be better located. If you're allergic to the theme in some way, this might not be the place for you again. However, if those aren't a concern for you, this B&B, which has some very reasonable prices for what you get in return, should be on your list of places to consider.

Excellent location to Sequoia and Kings Canyon NP's. Good variety of rooms available for price and size. The one we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. Nice pool in the back and the owner is out there at 6 am keeping it clean. The breakfast - wow was it good. Bought their cookbook in hopes to replicate. Coffee available by 6 am. The back yard was like an oasis to sit out in the evening to enjoy the weather and the stars. A few towns within 15 minutes to get dinner.

Room Tip: Look at their website to choose a room that will suit the size and price you want. They all are dif...

Great place to stay. The hosts were perfect. They gave us plenty of space...I have been to some bed and breakfasts that watch every move you make. The room was nice and clean. The pool and hot tub was very nice. Breakfast was incredible. Pleasant music playing in the background. Fresh herbs as garnish. If you are in the area consider staying at the plantation bed and breakfast!

After a long day's drive, we began to look for a place to stay before visiting Sequoia National Park. Places were filing up fast.A nice woman overheard my conversation about needing a room, and suggested "The Plantation". What a grand place! The property is very lush and romantic.
Marie is a chef so breakfast was remarkable. After a great rest here, we traveled on to see the giant sequoias the next day. This place is exactly what travelers need.

Room Tip: This b and b has a "Gone with the Wind" theme; all the rooms are decorated with a nice tou...
