Nothing special here to taste. All of the award winners are off of the tasting menu. Pretty stuffy atmosphere, trying too hard to be like something else (i.e. a fancy Napa vineyard). Would rather hit up any of the other vineyards in the area - much more fun, much more homey, better wine.

Our family lives less than a mile from Wise Villa and decided to drop in this past Saturday for a tasting. We understood that there was construction happening as it was visible, but a simple statement about that would have been nice. Instead the greeting staff was very confused about seating. Finally we were set outside at portable tables in the work area with all the junk and unused equiptment. Our server was odd (best work I can think of). She collected our money, making a huge point to say we HAD to pay first treating us as if we might run away. It was obvious by our appearance we were not going to be doing that! We had a seven year old with us and when we asked if there was something for her to drink and they first thought about it then said, yes, Estate water. Hmmm we are on a well too, can we call it Estate Water? They have a bistro inside, one would think they could offer or sell something for non-drinkers.
Okay, the wine. Cheap glasses that hit you in the nose with the smallest of tasting pour I have ever encountered. Seriously, barely a taste. We do a lot of tasting and this was a horrible tasting glass and sample! The wine itself was not the best (although we only got through THREE! Yes, we paid for seven!! This area has some good wines. This winery did not show me that! Their wines were very expensive for the area...it was priced similarly to Rambauer, Franks or or other known Napa uppermid range wines and that it is NOT!
The staff. Our first server was odd as I said. She poured us two glasses after stating she would only be pouring one. Seems the wait staff also give the tours. It seems that this is a very confusing system. We got our third taste by someone who was very confused as to where we were in the menue and she seemed to know nothing about the wines and could only complain about how far out our table was. After that we asked to just view a menue...we never saw that. We waited and waited...finally we were asked where we were in our tasting. Our answer after twenty minutes of waiting...we are done. A wasted $7 a person but no one seemed to care about us or their wines for that matter.
We had also brought a young French Bull Dog and asked if that was ok. They said yes. Before we left a waiter came out and siad to keep your dog in your lap, the Estate dogs are loose and are aggressive. Aggressive!! Why in the world would you have aggressive dogs on a public place running loose?!!
Over all a waste of time and money. A tacky experience. This is a winery that would have been great considering how close we live and we do a lot of entertaining but that's not going to ever happen again there!!

Went there this past Sunday. Sat and waited for help for 10 minutes. We were doing a tour at 2 which ended up being more like 3. That part was ok but when you walk in it would be nice for someone to explain how it works. To many customers not enough staff. After the tour ( which was great!) the tour guide Kevin was super friendly and very knowledgeable, we were set free. But free to go and do what? Just felt most of it was left up to us to figure out. I was in great company so we made the best of it and still enjoyed outselves. Will not go back when there are so many other wineries that are better.

We purchased a local 2 for one coupon to tour and taste at Wise Villa Winery. The drive was beautiful and the scenery, breathtaking. On a side note we purchased their Zinfandel at Costco prior to purchasing the coupon and found the Zin to have great potential if left to age a few more years. We were excited to taste the wines and learn about this vineyard and how they process their wines. We tasted prior to the tour and the sommeliers were very gracious and we also met the young man who helped create the wines, Associate Winemaker Kevin Luther. They educated us on each wine during the pouring and boasted about the flavors and nuances. I was excited to taste. Upon tasting each one, I was bored. Most had no aroma or flavor to speak of with the exception of the Torrontes. The tour was good and the staff were friendly. They produce Cabs, Cab Franc, and Sirah on their vineyard and are quite proud that they are one of the few that do. These particular grapes like coastal breezes and prefer cooler temps as opposed to the temps that reach into the 100's on any give summer day in Lincoln CA. The Torrontes is quite good and would be a great summer time wine and like I said, the Zin is nice too, but needs to age a bit in the bottle. The Sierra Foothills are great for growing Zins as these grapes like the warmer weather. We will not be back to taste or purchase any of their wines. Sorry to say this.

I like Zinfandel from Lodi. I like the people who make good wine. I have gone to Wise several times. The wine is only average. The large tasting room seems always vacant. The owner is less than gracious and seems to believe that a minor degree in botany makes him both a enologist and a great vintner. The view of his enormous house and the vineyards are pretty. Much nicer vineyards nearby.
