A wonderful, quaint place to stay. We were welcomed with wine at check-in and a friendly cat. Enjoyed a beautiful room with a view, walking the grounds and acquainting ourselves with the chickens, ducks and llamas, a delicious dinner with wine pairing with other guests and exploring the walking paths across the road with deer and great views of the ocean. Did not want to leave after our brief one night stay, especially after having a tasty homemade breakfast in our Briar Rose room. Stayed here on a trip down the coast from Seattle and wish we had more time to enjoy it! We will be back again!

Room Tip: Briar Rose room - has good view and a beautiful fireplace for cool Nov. evening. Very spacious room...

This was a wonderful experience.

Lovely room, llamas and chickens are on the property. Walk to the ocean.

The owner , John is very "hands on and will help with any request'

The Happy Hour was a meal in itself .

Breakfast was delivered to our room and was a complete , delicious meal.

Definitely would stay there again.

No place compares to Glendeven Inn. This place truly is in a class by itself. My wife and I have been to some pretty good places but have never experienced the personal care we received from the owners and staff at Glendeven Inn. We fed the chickens (they give you a small bag of feed) and John let us feed the llamas with him in the evening.
We stayed at the Beach Trail Mendocino Cottage and it was amazing. The trail right across the lane to the beach winds through a big patch of wild fuchsias with more hummingbirds than we have ever seen in one place. It's so cool!
What an amazing way to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. Glendeven will always have a special place in our hearts.

My husband and I had such a great time at the Glendeven Inn that we changed our plans and came back to Mendocino early so we could stay another night here. My husband joked that John and staff must walk around scrutinizing every little detail saying, "How can we make this better?" and then make it better.

Rooms: We stayed in the Garret and East Farmington rooms, both of which were gorgeous, clean, and had tons of natural light. We really enjoyed the East Farmington Room: the fireplace was stocked with wood and ready to light and the french doors opened onto a private patio overlooking the vegetable garden - a great spot for breakfast and/or a glass of wine from the Wine Bar[n]. Fresh flowers, a little bag of chicken feed, a welcome brownie, and great toiletries were in every room.

Food: We were lucky enough to make the farm to table dinner served in the farmhouse, which we really enjoyed. Service, food, and wine parings were all great. A hot breakfast with a thermos of coffee was brought to our room in a basket. A selection of (amazing!) homemade cookies and biscotti are available around the clock, as was french press coffee if you're up before breakfast. We really enjoyed the complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres at the wine bar[n], and ordered a small selection of cheeses to try.

Grounds: Gorgeous. Enjoyed strolling through the perennial beds, feeding the chickens, watching the llamas, and the walk along the nearby beach with a cup of coffee before breakfast. A previous reviewer complained that the Inn is set just off the road; however, there is very little traffic and the grounds are so large and lushly planted that you feel as if you're tucked away on a (very posh) farm.

Hospitality: Impeccable. Super helpful with nearby dinner reservations, with wine recommendations, and with all the little finished touches that are everywhere you turn your head.

Do yourself a favor and stay here whenever you can.

Room Tip: East Farmington has a wood burning fireplace ready to light and private patio overlooking the garden...

My husband & I escaped from the Texas heat to Northern California for a long weekend. This was our first time at the Glendeven, but we would definitely want to return. The hot delicious breakfast delivered to your door in the morning was a wonderful way to start the day. John and his staff were so helpful with recommendations for activities in the area, and even dining choices down in Sonoma. We appreciated how the staff prepared the fireplace every day to encourage you to build a fire (which we did often). The room had everything we needed except an iPod docking station. The wine reception featured great selections. The whole property was so cozy and inviting, you really felt like you were staying at a friend's home. It was the best part of our trip.

We chose this inn for our northern California coast trip and stayed three nights. It was a wonderful experience and one we hope to repeat. It was easy to secure a reservation and to place a dinner reservation. We arrived during check-in time and the host/owner John made it a welcoming, yet efficient process.

We stayed in the first floor Garden Room, with a queen bed, bistro table and 2 chairs along with 2 easy chairs. CD player, heater, attached bathroom with shower, toiletries, hair dryer, etc. all included. Bed was comfy and we slept beautifully. The room has a lot of windows which let in beautiful light but with shades to darken the room at night. We heard no road noise nor any other guests. A chef-prepared breakfast was delivered to our room each morning at 9 a.m. It was a very comfortable experience!

The property is original to the site with lovely gardens. Animals include llamas and chickens; we fed the chickens and visited their organic garden, watched the birds light among the bushes and flowers and visited the llamas in a pen adjacent to the house and gardens. It's a pristine, well-maintained property in a beautiful ocean-view setting. We crossed highway 1 and walked along a trail to the edge of the continent where we stood in the evening sun taking in the view and listening to seals barking. What's not to love about this experience!

The Inn advertises its "farm to table" dinner several nights a week. We made a reservation and shared a meal with three other couples. It's sometimes awkward to think about eating with strangers, but it turned out to be a very special evening. The menu is emailed to you the day before so you can make choices. The first-floor living/dining room of the Inn has long windows looking out at nature and the meal was delicious. The other guests were fun and talktative and we all stayed til 10 p.m. talking and visiting. The hostess removed our dishes and left us on our own. We lit the laid fire (the temp drops in the evening to make a fire a good idea) and shared coffee with new friends.

We took two more days driving one day north to view the Avenue of the Giants (redwoods) and another to drive south, stopping and walking out to the cliffs or beaches or along trails. We had a picnic and thoroughly the scenery and relaxed trip.

The inn has a wine tasting room and there is also a fridge in a backporch room where you can get a cold bottle of water or leave picnic groceries. Coffee, tea and baked goods are always available in the living/dining room.

After searching through VRBO sites and countless B and B listings, we happened upon Glendeven Inn. With lovely garden grounds, amazing 9:00 breakfasts, a genuinely warm and accommodating Inn keeper and staff, and a room/suite with every creature comfort available (expect a television -- THANK GOODNESS) it was just delightful! We always travel and roam coveting the "other" accommodations we couldn't afford, or missed booking.... but honestly Glendeven is the place to envy. It is sophisticated, beautifully sited and so luxurious. Without a doubt this will be a repeat for our future vacation travels. Don't miss the wine tastings at the Wine Bar(n), their Farm to Table Dinner, or their remarkable Glendeven Cookies on the hospitality bar. John and his staff are a great resource for activities and wine explorations in the area. We just loved our stay.

Room Tip: The photos are accurate and genuine... they helped us choose the room we booked.
