“Had a Cozy & Wonderful Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

We were fortunate enough to receive a Gift Certificate for two nights at one of our favorite B&B's, the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. It had been a few years since we were there, and we noticed the improvements to the property by the new owners. We stayed in the Cypress Cottage and were thrilled to be able to bring our new addition to the family....our little dog. We all felt so welcomed, and we loved the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. Our breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and we took advantage of the new option of having one of them delivered to our cottage. Our LOVE for the Inn lives on, and we hope to get back very soon!!!

Rooms are lovely with views of the coast. The 24 hour hot tub under the stars was a real treat. Owner was helpful and attentive. Fresh baked cookies when you first arrive. All in all, a great stay. Thanks so much!

We came to explore the area, but could barely pull ourselves away from the room - it was gorgeous! We stayed in the Shangri-La which is about 5 miles south of their main property. The cabin in perched right on the edge of a cliff over looking the Pacific. Huge floor to ceiling windows across the front of the cottage let you take in every inch of rocky shoreline and beautiful sunset that nature has to offer.

Asking around for a dog friendly place, a friend suggested we stay here...and dog friendly is an understatement! As soon as we parked, Buster was greeted with a designated grassy runway which offered welcome relief after a long drive. Stepping inside to check-in, he was greeted with smiles, chest rubs and homemade doggie treats. At the cabin, while we awed at the breathtaking views, Buster's nose sniffed out HIS welcome basket which was filled with more treats, bowls, towels and a sheet to make his stay more comfortable.

Previous experiences with a "fully stocked kitchen" have fallen a little short...and should have been described as "striped bare, with 3 forks". I was impressed at how well stocked the kitchen in the Shangri-La was - besides the expected appliances, they had decent cookware, knives and even a rice cooker. We decided to go back up the hill to the general store in Albion and picked up some breakfast items and fixings for a quick dinner so we could really enjoy the room and take a good long soak in the private hot tub overlooking the ocean. (the in-house baker at the market makes UNBELIEVABLE brownies - the strawberry shortcake brownie was my favorite)

Check out was a breeze, staff couldn't have been friendlier and this place has moved up to the top of our "quick getaway" list.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with the Shangri-La!

Great place for a family vacation on the Mendocino Coast. We stayed in the Ledford cottage, which amounts to a a 2 bedroom/2 bath house with a large living room, kitchen, deck, and fenced back yard - good for dogs and little ones. With three kids, everyone had plenty of room (fold-out in living room). Very clean, comfortable, and lots of little extras, and the breakfast deal (basically, we got what amounted to a full breakfast for all of us every morning) is great - no need to buy brekafast groceries if you stay there. The property is beautiful, service was great, and an easy walk south the Buckthorn Beach. State parks/beaches, Mendocino Village, and Fort Bragg are all easy drives. Very nice place to stay and excellent value.

This little bed and breakfast inn sits right on the coastline. The cabins are charming (and they have hoisted up the beds so that you can see the ocean). The grounds offer incredible walks that are best done in the morning when the ferns and Redwood forest is lush with dew (but beware of the enormous slugs). The breakfast offering is fantastic. Sit by the window overlooking a tree stump, the grounds keeper sprinkles seed and all types of woodland creatures come breakfast as well.

A very quick walk down the road offers paths to the ocean with little islands that you can explore. Just be ware of the tide as you can get stranded on the islands and its a challenging walk or cold swim back.

At dusk, visit the hot tub located high on the property - watching the sunset there it is an exquisite way to end the day.

The nearby dinner options are few so opt for something in Mendocino (a 15 or so min drive).

Weekend stays require a two night booking, but if you reserve last minute you can negotiate only one night.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin with a view of the ocean.

The Heather Cabin is very comfortable and the view is great. I had a great time with two friends in the Mendocino area. The location of the Inn is close to everything, and the service is great. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast and good selection.

Stayed in the Whale Watch room at the top of the hill for two nights. Was a great spot with tremendous perched deck to view out over the water / sunset. Breakfast was delicious each morning. Easily located to get up to Mendocino (we visited the Botanical Gardens and town). Also about 2 minutes from Wild Fish (great restaurant).

Only downside was that you had to cross traffic and walk along Route 1 for about 100 yards to get to the Cove access. Definitely worth the brush with traffic.

Rooms were very comfortable and had a very modern New England seaside feel to them. Shower left something to be desired, but jacuzzi tub made up for it.

The outdoor hot tub was a great place to take in a sunset!

Room Tip: The rooms of Whale Watch, Pacific View, and Captain's Watch all seem to be very similar. Captain...
