My wife and I spent three nights at the Heritage House in early November for my birthday. Their recently remodeled facilities are amazing. There are several clusters of rooms scattered across the hillside… each with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. The room had a fireplace, a couch looking out at the view, very comfortable bed, refrigerator, microwave, tv, and a spacious bath & shower with rain-style showerhead - all in a clean, fresh, contemporary style. The deck off of the bedroom was perfectly situated for gazing at the view. As we walked down the path from our room to the ocean cliffs, we saw several benches for sitting and a wonderful gazebo out on the point surrounded by the ocean. The restaurant on the premises was cozy with great food & a bar with a fun, friendly ambiance.
The resort personnel were extremely accommodating. They had golf carts to take us to our room & would drive us around the facility if needed…to and from dinner, down to the cliffs, etc. We were traveling with our Golden Retriever and the facility provided us with a silver dog bowl and treats.
It’s a very short drive to Mendocino to the north and Albion to the south with several beaches available in between. We walked along the ocean with our dog, playing with the driftwood and discovering caves in the local cliffs.
I’ve traveled a lot in my time and this was one of the most pleasurable stays I’ve ever had. My wife and I feel like we’ve discovered a wonderful retreat that we plan to revisit again & again.

We have been past customers of this inn (20+ years) but with all of the ownership changes in the last 10 years or so, we had not stayed here (priced out) and are overjoyed they are back! Here is a great insider tip: stay during the week right now while things are still being renovated and you pretty much have the whole entire resort to yourselves. Peaceful doesn't even begin to describe this place right now. Although we saw construction trucks there/workers in the daytime, they really could not have been any more quieter. No complaints at all there. Views are amazing as this inn sits right on the bluff on 37 acres. We stayed in the La Maison #13 room. Very spacious room with king bed, lovely accomodations, huge walk-in rainfall shower in large bathroom, gas fireplace, large flatscreen tv, spacious and comfortable sitting area with floor to ceiling windows showcasing the ocean views, in room coffee, microwave and small refrigerator. Also your own deck with the amazing ocean view close. Nightly turn down service! This room is an AMAZING VALUE and I do mean AMAZING. We paid only $175 a night. Also comes with a nice continental breakfast in their restaurant. Full bar on site and huge cozy fireplace adjoining the bar to sit and enjoy a cocktail on a cold evening. Don't wait to book yourself a getaway here. Even though they currently have only 30 rooms open/available, they will have 67 rooms once the renovation is complete. The only drawbacks for us were: pillows were way too soft for us and the bed was too firm & we both woke up with sore lower backs and back of our necks. Will request a softer bed next time or bring our own memory foam topper and our own pillows. 2nd drawback for me was wanting to use the treadmill in the fitness room and it was OUT OF ORDER. So disappointed but I know they will fix that as part of the renovation at some point.

Room Tip: I believe all room have ocean views here. Book yours SOON!

We were more than impressed with the beautiful hotel and restaurant and the extremely gracious and helpful staff. Our room was so very comfortable and truly relaxing to enjoying the beautiful ocean view on our private little deck. We enjoyed an amazing dinner! The restaurant with a warm fireplace, old chandeliers and a bar looking out to the ocean was gorgeous. I enjoyed the House Greens, which were deliciously fresh and just the perfect light dressing. My main entree of the Lobster Mac & Cheese was simply divine. The best Lobster Mac & Cheese I have ever had! We can't wait to stay & dine again sometime very soon!

Our romantic internet choice to stay on the opposite coast fell through leaving my wife and I stranded with no weekend reservations in Mendocino County, Ca. during the busiest time of the year (September). Thanks to the extremely helpful staff of the already fully booked lovely Little River Inn (Mendocino, Ca) who called all over trying to find us a room...on a whim they called the Heritage House (assumed still closed over the last 5 years and undergoing major renovations) only to find that 12 totally newly rebuilt rooms had been opened in the last 6 days!! We arrived to find a classy 5 star resort sitting on breathtaking ocean cliffs. Stepping thru the door of our large room to the view of 3 large glass sliding doors opening to a private deck facing the ocean. Facing this amazing view was a large sofa, nice fireplace to side, and very large comfortable bed. The room was spacious, luxurious, and romantic right down to the large glass enclosed shower area. Even the service (late night ice bag run for us) was excellent. Rooms aside, the grounds with cliffs overlooking beautiful ocean views was just insane.

Room Tip: Most all rooms positioned with clear unobstructed ocean views.

My husband and I are thrilled that Heritage House has reopened. We stayed there for three wonderful nights at the beginning of November, and they've done a great job with the renovation of the resort. The rooms are beautiful, restful, elegant, and so comfortable. The bed is great; the bathroom is gorgeous, and the best part is that the slate floor is heated; and they've really maximized the views, even from the bathroom. The property is as beautiful as ever. Though they are still renovating some areas of the resort we barely heard a sound. The staff is so pleasant and eager to please. The continental breakfast is delicious, with house-made pastries. Do yourself a favor and go--soon!

Room Tip: Loved the great view of the ocean cove, including waves splashing onto rocks, from Seacliff, #49.
