Never imagined this hotel would be so nice. It was a bit tricky to find at first. (We had to use the GPS). But so worth it. We were given a "suite", that is, a bedroom separated from a living area. (Kind of like the Embassy Suites). It was spotlessly clean, carpet and upholstery. The furniture, dek and chairs and end tables all in excellent condition. No mars or scratches. There was a microwave and small fridge. Large closet with luggage rack, iron and ironing board. A large practical bathroom, but I would have liked a shower mat; I found the tub a little slippery. Or would liked to have had a grab bar on the wall. The bed was super comfortable. We were given two bottles of water upon arrival. And a nice breakfast in the morning. It was a great stay, all in all.

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express-Lodi because we were in town for a wedding and didn't want to take the 2 hour drive back to the San Francisco Airport after the wedding. We were between staying at this hotel and the Hampton Inn-Lodi; which was right across the street. We are loyal Hilton Brand guests, but the Hampton Inn was charging $150/night and the Holiday Inn Express was offering the $77.00/night Per Diem rate; so we made the logical choice.

The Hotel is located off Cali-99 and coming will be on your left side if you're exiting the freeway. It is the first road on the left after the Starbucks Coffee. The property looks great on the outside and I'd have to guess that it's no more than a few years old; if that. Check-In was smooth. We were the only ones there at the time and the kind woman allowed us to check in 90 minutes before the posted check-in so we could change and get ready. Kudos to her for that.

The room was spacious and everything was clean. The room was updated with the latest fixtures and television. The room also had a mini fridge and an oversized bathroom with a tub and shower. I don't know what the big commotion is about the Holiday Inns having the best shower head, but that's just us. The water was warm and there were plenty of towels in the rooms for my wife and I. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was extremely quiet; we slept at night with no interruption.

In the morning they offered breakfast downstairs in a room that was plenty big enough for all of the guests. We weren't impressed with the breakfast offered. They had the "fake" omelets that Hampton Inn used to serve, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cereal, pastries, juices and "one touch" instant pancakes. Weird. The coffee was served warm and they didn't have Splenda; but that wasn't a huge deal for us. They also offered a manager's reception that we missed which looked to offer wine and keg beer during certain hours.

Overall, a great stay. We were pleased with the accommodations, price, and friendliness of the staff. We would happily stay here again, but simply if the Hampton Inn isn't offering a reasonable rate. We would also feel confident in recommending this hotel to you if in the area.

Room Tip: Corner Rooms offer extra protection from noise.

A conveniently located, almost new hotel near vineyards and wine tasting. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful and seemed to take pride in providing guests with a positive experience. The indoor pool was located just off the lobby and was appreciated. The rooms were well-appointed and comfortable, as was the bed. HIE's breakfast buffet was superior to most other hotels in which we've stayed. Would definitely return and have recommended it to family and friends.

I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is restaurant quality. What is really impressive about this hotel is how clean and well-maintained it is.

Bio:
Platinum with Marriott and Hyatt. Diamond with Hilton. Gold with Starwood and Holiday Inn Average 183 nights a year in hotels. Worst year: 332 nights.

The HI Express is East of Lodi, on the fringe of wine and strawberry fields. The other viable option is a Hampton Inn about 3 blocks West of the Holiday Inn Express. I haven’t stayed there, but I have been in the lobby. Service is sparse. Rooms are clean, and the rates are fair. I should also say that while I'm here on business, this is well-located for the area wine region.

Room:
Clean and acceptable. Bed comfortable. Air filters immaculate. Fridge and microwave were clean. Sufficient power outlets near the desk (4). Wired and Wireless available. Windows open about 8-10 inches for fresh air. I’m in a 2 queen bed room, and it also has a couch and coffee table. The TV appears to be 37” flat screen.

Service:
Friendly check in. Non-existent at breakfast. The front desk people are very busy, and it appears no one else works here. Front desk personnel tend to be on their personal phones a lot – and while I’m sure it can be a boring job, it’s unprofessional. Guests should be acknowledged and greeted when they pass within 5 feet of you.

Manager’s Reception:
Nightly. Draft beer, wine, and chips/salsa sort of snacks (the Lodi Hampton Inn had marginally better snacks at their reception)

Breakfast:
If you stay at Holiday Inn Expresses, you are familiar with it: eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roles, and assorted cereal, breads, etc. Nothing special here.

Fitness Center:
It’s there, and its small.

I have stayed here many times and will again. This is a newer HIE. Decor is really modern. What I like best is the staff is really friendly. They are very welcoming every time you come through the door and very helpful with special requests or dining suggestions. Breakfast is your typical free hotel breakfast. Rooms are very clean. Shower good and beds comfortable.
