The location in the middle of the redwoods but close to the Bay Area is perfect. In summer the creek with a beach is great fun for the kids. On the Saturday of our visit, they had crafts for kids in the afternoon and a evening outdoor movie with campfire.

This park is a beautiful hidden jewel of the SF Bay Area. It feels as though one is hundreds of miles away from the congestion of the city life. But if you go expecting peace and quiet, be warned that this place is very kid-friendly (as in very noisy). However, at 10:00 p.m., all is finally quiet from the noisy day. Thankfully the rangers run a very tight ship and constantly monitor the park.

Nothing but shade. Giant redwoods and the occational visit from the racoons. It is peacful if you go durring the week but does get packed on the summer weekend. sound does travel and you hear all the screaming kids everywhere in the camp ground, but come 10:00 not a peep. The men's restroom have the no fush setup and in the afternoon you will need a gas mask to enter the restroom. we seen the ranger clean the restrooms on friday and on monday, with the exception of the stupid camper who has not tought their little ones how to use a public restroom this area was clean.

The rangers are most helpful. There is a small store to pickup some minor things you may have forgot, and they are most helpfull.

AT&T cell phone users are out of luck I got no signal (wich made this trip that much more relaxing).

One of our favorite campgrounds. The rangers are friendly and the redwoods here are beautiful. We spent three days recently and felt rejuvenated.

Sites vary from semi-private to not so private and some are much bigger than others. Reservations are taken online and a map is provided with pictures of individual sites. I recommend the sites on the river sides of sections B & C.

The camp store is well stocked but only open 4 months a year. From fall until the end of May, only one portion of the park remains open for camping but I think it would be too cold for many people during that time, anyway.

Bathrooms are clean unless it's the middle of the night & the raccoons have been in there drinking from the toilet. But - hey, it's camping so you expect that. : )
