Excellent again! We stayed on the site last year and my children always ask are we going to Tavistock!

Excellent clean facilities and the owners/staff can't do enough for you especially when they have my 7 yr old son asking numerous questions but as I am disabled and find it difficult to shower standing up I find the disabled facilities a god send!

I can't wait to visit again hopefully in the summer

Exceptional site with exceptional people!! Highly recommended

We have camped at Harford Bridge several times because we love the simplicity of the site and the great Dartmoor. This was our first visit in our VW campervan and the campsite still holds our hearts. Simplicity does not mean lacking in facilities, everything you need is supplied in a low key way.

Thank you for your thoughtful insights.

We are pleased to hear that our work to improve the park's facilities and preserve a holiday experience in a special Dartmoor setting has drawn you back again to stay in your camper. We rely on a dedicated team of outdoor workers, particularly Mike, Dave, & 'PJ' and our principal housekeeper Elaine to keep the park and its facilities looking good and working well.

We are uplifted to receive affirmation that the park still captures your heart while it continues to evolve. Thank you for your review.

Chose this site to take my 6yr old son for his first camp after reading online reviews.

I decided to go for a river side pitch and it is well worth the small extra fee. We were right next to the 'beach' area where the river bends and it's absolutely gorgeous. My son was happy to spend hours paddling and throwing stones into the water. We were quite sheltered from the sun, however.
My only, albeit very small, criticism is that I couldnt find the marking posts for our pitch No 27 so pitched up where I guessed it should be. The site map wasn't quite accurate enough to help either.

The pitch itself was nice and flat and we didn't find the river too noisy to sleep next to - we were probably too worn out to notice. The wildlife around the river was fantastic too - our favourite was to watch the bats flying around in the evening.

If you're planning to visit Dartmoor I can heartily recommend this site

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your experience at Harford Bridge Park staying by the River Tavy and saw some of the wonderful wildlife we have here.

Since your stay the wood pitch markers by the river have been renewed. Our recent Facebook post shows the new markers in place. We think our guests will now be able to find their pitch quicker, so the holiday experience can start very soon after arriving ...

We hope you come back and stay again.

We have just spent a long weekend at Halford Bridge and cant remember when I have been so relaxed. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the staff cannot do enough for you, nothing seems to much for them. The camp itself is set on the banks of the River Tavey a more peaceful spot you will noy find, really well set out with plenty of space between pitches. They take all types of caravans, mobile homes and tents, they also have caravans for rent whic is what we rented and great value. The vans are fantastic with plenty of room and great location. This camp is must for nature lovers and those wanting rest and relaxation, there is no club house but they do have a small store.Tavistock is only ten mins down the road where you use the supermarket. We took our dog so it is dog friendly and so are the pubs twenty mins walk and good food there are plenty of walks and a big field where you can let your dog run free.A fantastic place to base yourself for a great holiday and you must try the fresh eggs you wont taste better anywhere.

Room Tip: Keep an eye out for the ducks

We planned to visit Dartmoor and camp for 1 night on Good Friday. We wanted to be near Princetown to go walking and of the few camp site available Harford Bridge looked the most inviting and had an excellent, informative website.
As it was our first stay we were offered a discount and made the booking over the phone. The lady was very helpful and email confirmation was sent out to us.

We arrived at the site after a long walk on the moor. We were greeted warmly and as it was our first time they offered us help if we got stuck. They had a "hog roast" hour, which we would have taken advantage of, but we had already brought all our food. I had spotted this on their facebook page, but assumed (wrongly) that is was a Summer only thing!

We had booked a pitch next to the river (at a small extra cost). Everything was easy to find the pitch was very nice. Plenty of wooden picnic tables around that could be moved to your pitch if required. The river was very pretty and provided a relaxing backing track to our stay.

The washing facilities were very clean and tidy. There were indoor and outdoor washing up sinks with plenty of hot water. A room with laundry facilities and freezers for cool packs etc.

There were plenty of toilets and showers and the place was well heated (apart from people leaving the door open a lot!).

The site has a mixture of static caravans and tourers and tents. There was a play area, tennis court, small shop in reception, drinking water taps throughout the area, very dog friendly with a separate 4 acre field for off lead walkies.

The site was excellent for star gazing.. low light pollution so we had a lovely view for the Lyrid Meteor shower, unfortunately only saw 1 that night!

The atmosphere was nice and friendly and although we were a little cold in the night, we can't wait to come back to Harford Bridge again!

Cannot comment on price as this was our first time camping, but we thought it was worth the money :)

Room Tip: We liked the pitches by the river.

We stayed for 3 nights in the She[herd's Hut. It has a comfortable bed, toaster and kettle, plus underfloor heating and a wood burning stove. It could perhaps be slightly closer to the shower block but that didn't put us off. It's a cosy, romantic, spot right on the edge of Dartmoor and an excellent starting point for walking on the moor.

Thank you for your review - we are really pleased you liked our unique Shepherd's Hut and that it provided comfort, cleanliness and quality.

Other guests have told us the Hut is a little way from the toilets and we intend to shorten the trip to these facilities by trying an alternative summer location in 2014. Our camping area is large and the National Park's quite reasonable building controls makes it not easy to provide camping amenities close to all pitches.

We had a one night stay here and found the site to be clean toilet/shower block warm clean well looked after. The assistant managers were very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. The ducks were a delight to see the walks lovely. Looking forward to going back soon for a longer stay. Very good value for money ideal as a base for exploring the area.
