The only bed and breakfast in Lompoc, the 1890 House is a delightfully warm stop on any trip. This completely restored Victorian is operated and lived in by Chuck and Barbara Arnold, who have furnished it with antiques and family photographs. Directions to a restuarant for dinner came with stories of a friend's trip to Iowa; breakfast of fruit, omlets and toast was accompanied by delightful, life-sharing conversation. Their dog, Kia, is welcoming but knows when it is time to leave you alone. The goats and chickens out back provide the perfect sound track.
Since it is located on a busy corner, I recommend ear plugs, as the truck traffic starts early. But the soft beds and copious hand made quilts more than make up for it.
