Stayed here on our road trip. What a great hotel in a great town. The room was comfortable, well appointed and the best bed I have slept in ever.
The lounge area was great with photos of the stars who have filmed here.

What a treat, to find this great old hotel, beautifully updated. Don't miss all the movie nostalgia in the halls of the original hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Great stop on the way to Mammoth or Death Valley. We loved our stay.

Dow is so much a part of the history of Lone Pine, and just hanging out in the lobby, looking at old photos, you can really absorb the flavor of the film history in the area. We have always stayed at Dow Villa and have never been disappointed; the employees are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and reasonably priced, and the view of the Sierras from the upstairs is awesome. There are so many things to do in the area and Dow gives you a nice retreat at the end of the day to rejuvenate for tomorrow's adventure.

Room Tip: The second floor at the motel gives you an awesome view of the Sierras.

The beauty goes on and on... Stayed at the Dow Valley in Lone Pine and the views of Mount Whitney and the Sierra Nevadas are breath-taking. Loved Death Valley and was surprised at the influence of the mountains surrounding the desert land - didn't expect that for some reason. The only negative is the drive back to Lone Pine at the end of a long day - it's about 100 miles! I would advise anyone to stay at one of the lodges on the grounds, but you need reservations far ahead. However, if you do stay outside the park - the Dow Villa is really nice and the rooms have all been nicely renovated. It is a sweet town with a great western theme. Lots of movies have been filmed there in the Alabama Hills.

This property includes the original hotel as well as a modern motel. We chose to stay in the older building: large room, high airy ceiling, private bath with updated fixtures. Delightful ambiance, esp. in the old-style lobby, open stairway: a good place to spend a little quiet time in the evening.

Room was quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful, including advice on sights and food; lots of good information about the history of the hotel and the connection to the movie making activity at Lone Pine.

Location is very good: right in town, easy walk to anywhere -- shops, museum, restaurants, grocery store. Hotel does not have a restaurant: not a problem, there's fine dinner places within a block or less either direction. In the morning, we were up early and out to see the sunrise on Mt. Whitney, then back for a wonderful breakfast at the Alabama Hill Cafe (around the corner from Dow's).

Will certainly return.

Room Tip: Check out the rooms in the older building.

This is a MUST stop, motor vehicles will not go past it. Dow Villa is, like Julius Caesar's Gallia, divided into 3 parts; the original 1940's Los Angeles revival part (2 Stories with lobby), the standard one story Route 66 style and the 2 story 1950's part where John Wayne stayed when he was in town making a shoot-em-up. Countless films have been shot in the hills above town; where massive granite outcroppings make neat ambush scenes. Lone Pine has an annual film festival I have never seen, I was either too far away to make it in a day or too far to get there in any event.

Features include a 24 hour Whirlpool and Heated Swimming Pool Pool.
