First, when I say that Gregory Zuniga is a "rock star" Rooms Director at this property, I really mean it. Greg has his own rock band and is about to release his second album. He is playing shows around S. CA and the songs from that upcoming album are getting early rave reviews. Make it a point to ask for Greg when you visit this hotel and stop by to say hello to this great guy!!
This was my third stay at the property and all three stays have been fantastic. I got to meet Tyler McKee, the F&B Manager at the property on this visit and he handled his job like a pro! I ordered the fruit salad for breakfast and the restaurant had run out of raspberries, but I had been told when I ordered that the fruit salad would come with plenty of raspberries as I was not getting the melon today (as it was not ripe). The salad came with no raspberries at all, but instead some apple slices I did not desire at the moment. No biggie and I did not say anything. But, when Mr. McKee was making his rounds and asked me how I was enjoying my breakfast, I told him about the situation. Not only did he speak with the head chef to ensure this would not happen again (i.e. the wait staff would be informed when the kitchen ran out of a particular item), but before I even got back to my room, he had send up to my room (2) special craft beers for my enjoyment! Great job Mr. McKee!
But, the employee of this stay hands down as far as I was concerned was a housekeeping assistant named Steve. Steve is the type of employee I suspect that is rarely mentioned in reviews here. He is the "guy behind the scenes" running fresh sheets and towels to the housekeepers as they do their work. Often, the housekeepers do not get the recognition they deserve on TA, but seldom do their assistants. Anyway, when I entered the elevator to go up to my room, Steve was there literally sweating from working so hard. But, he had that Hyatt spirit to make sure to ask me about how my day was going and sincerely engaged a conversation with me for the minute the elevator was taking us up to the 7th floor. The next morning when I was checking out, once again, there was Steve working as hard as one could imagine for the housekeepers and I could hear the housekeepers telling Steve to "get this and get that" for them. He still made it a point to be as cheerful as one could be in his short exchange with me before I went down to the lobby. Steve exemplifies how a Hyatt employee should interact with Hyatt guests. He is as much as a "rock star" as Mr. Zuniga! I hope management truly recognizes the value of an employee like Steve!
This hotel has a wonderful outdoor pools with great views. I love the Hyatt Regency across the street (where I originally met Greg) but I have grown to love this hotel as well. Keep up the great work guys!!
