“What a nice property!”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

This is such a great property! I'm staying at the Hyatt in San Diego tonight and it's terrible! The rooms were stylish. The property was sleek and well kept. The front desk staff were above and beyond helpful. If I need to cone back to long beach I will stay here!

Rooms were clean and modern with great attention to details and a super comfortable bed. Above all else, the staff was friendly, professional and went above and beyond to ensure a stay that exceeded expectations. Be sure to spend some time at the top floor pool deck - a gorgeously curated space that feels like a world away.

Excellent location very near the aquarium, convention center and other attractions. Parking is $7 a night in a garage next door, which gets busy on weekends. Hotel is stylish, staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are fair sized with comfy beds and large bathrooms, but it was very noisy, both from the outside and inside. We could clearly hear people talking next door as well as out in the hall. Rooms were not ready at check-in (4pm) but the supervisor gave us a credit to use at breakfast the next morning. Except that at check out there was no mention of the credit, fortunately the desk clerk took my word for it and took the charge off. It may have just been a busy Saturday but it was a bit disorganized. Elevators are slow as well. If you can get a deal on the price, especially if it includes breakfast, the location makes it worthwhile.

I came across this hotel on a very last minute girls weekend down to Long Beach, and was glad we selected it! It is a 20 minute drive from Orange County airport and within easy walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars. The rooms are really well appointed, with great furnishings and comfortable sitting areas, and look like they have very recently been updated/remodeled. The staff are really helpful and friendly, we didn't run into anyone who wasn't awesome the whole weekend. The breakfast offered for Diamond level Hyatt members is really good, fresh ingredients, and we loved the wait staff there. They have a pretty awesome pool on the roof, with a great view of the city, although it was VERY limited for seating, even though there could have easily been more lounge chairs added without compromising walking space (hopefully the hotel will do that soon). Parking is not included but is discounted with validation from the front desk. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

Love this hotel! The room was stylish, clean & quiet plus the bathroom was gorgeous! More importantly, the staff was friendly, professional and so accomidating. I was in town for a trade show and the bellmen (thanks Martin!) helped with some heavy packages and shipped some return items without hesitation. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on and it was nice to return after a long day to a smile and "by name" greeting. Bar & breakfast were also super. Will stay again without hesitation.

I stayed at this hotel for a week for business. It was disappointing for such an expensive hotel (nearly $400 a night). The Internet was terrible, causing buffering and failed downloads. I was unable to complete any work in the room in the evening as I had planned. As with most hotels, they still have not figured out they we need a lot of power outlets at the working desk these days. There were only two open outlets. You had to unplug the coffeemaker to free up one more outlet (which, irritatingly, the housekeeping staff kept insisting on plugging back in). Housekeeping refused for some reason to consider emptying the ice bucket and putting another plastic liner in there. I had to use the same liner for the entire week. Yes, I could have asked for one but I was tired of having to ask at the desk for things that should have been automatic. There was no refrigerator in the room for personal use. The one that was there had a sign stating NOT to use it for personal use as all the overpriced items inside were automatically charged to the room if removed. $32 for a pint of Beefeater gin. Seriously? I bought two 750 ml bottles at a nearby liquor store for $24 so it's not like alcohol is ridiculously expensive at Long Beach.

Shampoo and soap, which I seldom pack because the hotels provide it, was provided only on the first day. When I asked about it at the desk, I got one small hotel sized bottle of shampoo--no conditioner, no soap, no body wash and no lotion.

The coffee maker was a good idea as it was two-sided so you could brew two cups at once, but it didn't work well. It kept shutting off when only half the cup was full. The hotel provided sweetener and sugar, but no coffee creamer and no stirrers. The coffee provided, however, was excellent. It was much better than the coffee provided by most hotels.

The bathrobe that I had to request was provided without any ties. There was a hook in the bathroom on which to hang it, but there was no towel bar for the hand towel or washcloth near the sink. The only towel bar was inside the shower.

The thermostat did not work correctly. The room was either too hot or too cold no matter at what temperature it was set.

The iron was terrible. It was not dirty, but the sole plate dragged on clothing. This was an issue with my traveling companion, so it is the design of the iron and not just the one I had.

The food at the restaurant was excellent as were the bartenders, which is the only reason this rating received three stars instead of two. Breakfast in the hotel was delicious, but the kitchen was very slow. We waited for 45 minutes one morning for breakfast that arrived with stone cold toast. The bartenders Mike and Tachota were excellent and knew their craft well. They were personable and took excellent care of their customers. Perhaps they should be training the rest of the staff in delivering good customer service.

The halls were noisy and the doors might as well have been made of paper. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were very loud and went up and down the hallways slamming doors while they cleaned rooms. My room was on the parking garage side of the building and my nights were spent being awakened every two hours with car noise, loud people and car alarms.

This is disappointing because this is a small property and the service and accommodations should have been stellar.

Room Tip: Rooms on the parking garage side (the north side?) are very noisy. The building is poorly sound pro...

Green Features: I noticed no environmentally friendly practices. Nothing was noticeably marked as energy efficient and there was no placard requesting use of the towels more than once as in most hotels.

I had a great experience staying at the Hyatt the Pike Long Beach in mid April. I had a great price for my 2 night stay. The hotel was conveniently located and I was finding it based on GPS and hot being familiar with Long Beach at all. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is right across the side street and with voucher from the hotel is $7 per day and you can go in and out all day. The room was a good size, small suite, very comfortable bed. Bathroom was great with lots of space, wonderful rain head shower and nice amenities. I used the fitness center and although it was small, it had everything I needed and was very clean. You can easily walk to a number of restaurants, cafes, a movie theater from the hotel. Sadly, I did not get a chance to use the heated roof top pool, but it was very nice and had an excellent view of Long Beach. I would highly recommend staying here and if in the area again I will definitely consider staying here again. Also, security was very good, room card was necessary to access elevator, fitness center, etc.
