We stayed here for a family wedding over the 4th of July. We knew going in that the hotel was full because of a convention going on the same weekend. We liked our stay, but were a little disappointed that we could only get a room with 2 double beds, despite booking in January! I didn't know that hotels even had double beds anymore - we've only ever seen queens & kings. The room was too small to offer 2 queens, but one King would have fit.

On the plus side, the view is beautiful! The pool and hot tub were nice and the breakfast buffet in the downstairs restaurant was excellent. We were able to walk to the Aquarium of the Pacific, which was awesome! We were a little concerned after walking back from dinner on the 4th to come across a crime scene - after seeing that, I'm not sure I would venture far out at night with my family in Long Beach.

The wedding reception was also held at the hotel and it was awesome. The venue was beautiful and food was very good.

All in all, a good stay.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Long Beach during July 2014 for 2 nights, and I was immediately surprised to see the construction work in the main lobby. Apparently, the hotel just started renovating the lobby and restaurant area, with temporary walls, scissor lifts, and construction workers all about. Not the most inviting experience while checking in.

The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient, and the offered some bottled water and a buy-one-get-one night free offer (to make up for the inconvenience of the construction work).

My room was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed, large LCD TV, and work area. The bathroom was especially nice, with beautiful tiling and a custom sink basin.

The only real negative for my stay was the noisy people in the next room (obviously intoxicated) who were talking and laughing loudly until 1 am in the morning. Not the hotel's fault, but it made my stay a bit unpleasant.

Lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, right along a beautiful boardwalk area. Very safe place at night.

With the construction in the lobby area, the hotel made a makeshift temporary "restaurant" in a large conference room on the 5th floor. The breakfast buffet was nice, but unfortunately it was not included in my room rate.

There's only wireless (WiFi) Internet access in the room, and the hotel offers faster connect speeds for a premium upgrade. Unfortunately, the WiFi strength was super weak so the basic connection speed was also very slow. Somewhat disappointing.

So in summary, my room was comfortable, the location was great, and the staff was nice. But, the construction work in the lobby was unpleasant and the slow internet speed was annoying.

Would I stayed here again? Probably, once they finish their construction work.

Had a really nice stay at this Hyatt. I went for a conference (venue is adjoining the hotel) and then had a couple of days to myself. While the quality shoping is quite a little walk it's only a $10 cab ride. The walk to the beautiful Marina and waterfront right in fron of the hotel is so lovely I did it twice a day. Good value hotel, great service and a fine choice of dining and activities (the Queen Mary visit is a must do and the hotel porter organises that for you)

Room Tip: Choose a room on the ocean side for the view!

Stayed several nights recently. Had a great room with a full wall of windows overlooking the marina with perfect views.
Super clean room with everything I could need, fast and friendly accommodating service.
Free fantastic breakfast included, service again super friendly and fast.
I would recommend it to anyone for business or pleasure

This was a really nice location for a hotel. I stayed for a business conference, but my husband traveled with me. We didn't have to rent a car because we could walk everywhere. That being said, it's a traditional Hyatt which means that you have to pay for everything extra: wi-fi, breakfast, etc. The views were nice, the rooms were pretty standard. Overall a good hotel but just be aware that they like to nickle and dime you.

The hotel is located ideally near the Pike, restaurants, & the convention center of the Ocean in Long Beach. Great for families to book the top room with an ocean view for holidays like 4th of July, (the Queen Mary fireworks), New Year's Eve (local party & bars & Pine street is closed for people to enjoy).

It's a great place to meet friends and families or to have a wedding.

The room is a bit small.

Stayed for a convention nearby and brought my wife. We loved the area because everything was within walking distance. We loved to stroll along the never ending boardwalk with all of the shops, restaurants and bric-a-brac stores. Food was excelent as you basically ate seafood caught nearby which well prepared and served steaming hot.
We would definitely come back here again as the venue was outstanding.
