Enjoyed the restaurants. Service was good. The tours and activities were added benefits. The Princess Dianna exhibit was great. Had Tea in the Tea Room which was very good. Hope the refurbishment of the ship will include more elevators. It was a long walk to get to the working elevators, at times.

Very nice hotel with excellent staff. The location is a bit too far from downtown Long Beach to walk but they view over Long Beach marina and The Pike is fantastic. And the ship itself is amazing. There is a ton of history and just walking around on it gives you a rush.

Nice stay on the queen like in the good old times. We enjoyed it very much. Rooms were big enough, clean and we had nice sunset on deck. The audio guide tour was included in the rpice and it was quite nice.

Room Tip: two queen bed room was quite good

We were invited to an anniversary for our dear friends aboard the Queen Mary. It was a fabulous event in the ballroom and we enjoyed our stay aboard. The room had the charm of it's heyday era and we enjoyed the touches of style in the staterooms and aboard the ship overall.

Room Tip: Staterooms can be a bit small. It was fine for us, but if you'd like a bit more space, it's...

As frequent visitors to the USA we thought we'd treat ourselves to a night, out of our two week stay in California, on The Queen Mary. British made, 80 years old, full of character and quirky Britishness was what we expected...not what we got!
We obviously booked understanding and wanting to experience the 1930/1940's ambiance and instead got dirty, unclean, noisy, and a sparsely furnished ship.
There were several areas on the ship with beautiful original flooring/deck with nothing; no chairs, no grand piano, no nothing! What a waste!
The Promenade restaurant could have been so much more.
I understand the ships intention to divide people into 'classes' ( upper, working) areas in keeping with the original segregation but this restaurant was lacking in any character, the staff were miserable, the decor and furnishings were sparse. Thankfully the food was ok but slightly overpriced.
Don't be fooled by the picture of the room you THINK you are booking. As I've just now previously read a response from the manager...' No two rooms are the same' and the best room on the ship is the one in the picture not the one you will get.
The walls in the rooms are soooo thin you can hear EVERYTHING, and I mean everything! Thank you to the amorous couple who shared their every groan with us...nice...not!!!
The bathroom in our deluxe state room was dirty, unclean, complete with a pair of false eye lashes on the sink and a toilet that flushed once and continued to flush for the rest of the night all by itself.

I wonder what half hearted response the manager will make to my review because this is not about the age and the style of the ship ( which we wanted to experience) but down to the lack of care, cleanliness and attention to detail. Our once in a lifetime experience was ruined!
Crockery from someone ordering room service was on our corridor from 4pm ( from the night before) until the next morning! Yuk! Cleanliness and guest-friendliness is a huge downfall on the Queen Mary.
We did complain but didn't feel our complaint was taken very seriously.
The reception staff were slow and inefficient and there was always a queue to speak to someone and I wasn't prepared to stand around waiting instead of spending the time with my husband on our 3rd anniversary.
Feeling deflated and disappointed about what should gave been an iconic and memorable stay aboard a historic ship.

MissLucyLancashire -

I am feeling deflated and disappointed reading this review. Our ship is not dirty - it's old. That's a fact. She turns 80 this year and our staff works around the clock to keep the ship, well in ship shape. Promenade Cafe is our family dining experience - if you wanted to 'class it up' a bit step up to Chelsea Chowder House, our Tea Room or Sir Winston's. We have plenty of gorgeous rooms available - upgrade to a room with a view of the Ocean...It is true that no two rooms are alike but you get what you pay for - you want to pay for an interior deluxe? No Ocean view for you. Walk around the ship a bit- we do have chairs, we do have a grand piano, there is so much to see and do here - it's hard not to have a great time. Your experience here is what you make of it.

We would love to have you back!

It was so easy to imagine myself a guest in the ship's heyday - I loved every bit of it except the line at the check-in. However, the check-in staff did find us a wonderful room. The self-guided tour was a great addition to the entire experience. The "icing on the cake" was the free slice of cheesecake for my daughter's birthday, courtesy of the Chowder House.

Room Tip: The portholes actually open!

Your user name makes me think of the 90s hit romantic comedy Mad About You with Paul Resier and Helen Hunt. Pretty funny show - netflix it.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and the tours and a nice meal over at Chelsea Chowder House! Happy belated birthday to your daughter.

We hope to have you aboard the ship again soon!

Recently stayed aboard the Queen Mary for a wedding. Everything about the hotel was amazing except for the service.

Check-in: Took about 10 minutes. My credit card stripe was damaged, but rather than take a look at my ID and key the number in manually, the front desk decides to try to swipe my card about 15 times and repeatedly told me that my card was damaged. It finally took a manager coming out of the office, him trying multiple times, repeatedly telling me again my card was damaged for them to key it in manually.

Rooms: Absolutely top notch. They're old, but they're nostalgic. The shower is fantastic. When the lights go off, the room is pitch black. The walls were a tad bit thin, so you can most likely hear any goings-ons in the room next door but probably not enough to ruin a good night of sleep. Sadly no ghosts.

Food: The only restaurant we had was the Queen Mary Sunday Brunch. Unfortunately, the service level there was at an all time low. They are very quick to fill your champagne or mimosas even when you ask them not to. Any special requests had to be asked to multiple servers (we required 3 and a manager to get my friend some soda water). Had I not asked for the bill, we'd probably be sitting there. Paying the bill, their computer system went down. First Martha (the server) blames the card being declined, then they quickly mention the system being down and walked away. It took me noticeably raising my voice (something I do not normally do) to get her to stop to answer a question about when the system would come back up.

The only notable good service was front desk rep Mia. I lost my hotel key and she was very quick to assist with generating a new one.

Overall: Still a fantastic experience that I would do again. However I would be wary of the service level. It is the only thing keeping me from rating them 5 stars.

Thanks for the feedback and so glad you had a wonderful time...a little disappointed that your damaged credit card and your expectation of service at our buffet are the two things that caused us to lose that coveted fifth star. :) I'd advise getting a new card. :)

We are so glad you had a wonderful experience aboard the World Famous Queen Mary. We strive to make magical memories for each of our guests. We host hundreds of weddings each year and have literally married thousands of people over our time here in Long Beach.

We hope to have you aboard the ship again soon!
