This is a great hotel located in the L.A. Live section of downtown LA, next door to the Staples Center and Nokia Theatre. Rooms were very modern, large bathrooms and the showers were great. It's nice to have shower heads that are high up and you don't have to try to bend over to be under the water flow. It was nice to have the mini-fridge and safe in the room. I wasn't impressed with the a/c however. I had the temp set at 60 the entire stay and the hallways were cooler than my room. Requested maintenance to check it - they never came while I was in the room and no note/message left so I don't know if they ever did or not.

The staff at check-in were very professional and friendly as well as the concierge. This is one of the few hotels that I've stayed at where the housekeepers go out of their way to greet you in the hallways and it was really nice.

There are quite a few different restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but get to them early on game nights or you won't find any place to sit until after 7:30. The room service at the hotel was quick and the food wasn't bad quality.

Overall it was a great place to stay with the quality and service you expect from Marriott.

So many places to chose in LA and we finally picked the JW at LA Live. It was an excellent choice; location was next to the giant Christmas tree and ice skating rink as well as numerous bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is stunning with a sophisticated modern design with a classic edge. Our room was very large with amazing views.
Parking is $$$ but it is everywhere in LA and can not be avoided.

This hotel is part of L.A. Live, the entertainment district of downtown Los Angeles. The Staples Centre, the Nokia Theatre, the Grammy Museum, movie theatres and restaurants are all within this complex. If you come here to watch a sport event or a show, this is the perfect place to be. It is also good hotel for business.

I stayed here four nights for a convention. The rooms are very well appointed, very clean and the service is excellent. The lobby offers many services such as a convenience store, bars, coffee shop, restaurant and many places to just sit. The pool, on the 4th floor is quite large and very relaxing.

It is, however, a very expensive hotel when you start adding the little things: nothing is cheap around here and because this is a complex with only towers and highways around you are a captive audience with nowhere else to go without taking a cab.

So, in resume, this is a great place for a short business stay or to watch an event. It is, however, not the best location for a family outing or a holiday.

This hotel was very nice. I didn't expect it to be as close to Staples as it was but it was within 5 mins walking. Nokia Theater was close as well. The bed was very comfortable could have stayed in bed all day. The hotel staff was nice and friendly all day and night. Room service was quick. The hotel was very quiet didn't hear anyone outside our door at anytime of the day or night. If traveling and enjoy movies Tuesday is $7.00 all day.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Same complex with the Kodak Center where Idol is filmed, next to the Staples Arena, as well as Grammy museum. Lots of activities and restaurant. Also great for people watching especially on a Friday and Saturday from the bar or restaurant. The downstairs restaurant staff was pandering for tips. If you did not look rich, you got bare minimum attention.

The room was great, but no views of the city, shower was large enough for two - great. However, the internet was not free in the rooms which was surprising for a hotel of the caliber. Parking same. Every time you drive out you pay. Felt like I was nickel and dimed.

Staff was not really visible - Everyone looked like they had somewhere to go. When I finally found one to help with recommendations, she was very helpful and got me on a comp list at a great night club next door.

Overall, very central and worth the price.

I don't really like hotels or sleeping behind thousands of people, so an overnight stay for business is usually a necessary evil. However, this Marriott felt like home! Very new, extremely modern, great location, with every convenience imaginable! I mean they thought of everything...from a refrigerator, to an automatic nightlight in the bathroom, to electric outlets mid-wall instead of behind the bed or tables. Plus, the bed was ULTRA comfortable. I especially liked that the sheets and towels didn't have that "industrial" chemical smell like most hotels, but was just fresh and clean. This hotel was amazing and I'd definitely recommend it to everyone. I will be returning on my next trip to LA!

My friend and I stayed one night at the JW Marriott because we wanted to be close to Staples Center since we was going to see two basketball games. Here are our comments:

Location: The hotel is located right next door to the Ritz Carlton, within the LA Live entertainment complex. There are several good restaurants within LA Live and if you need a grocery store, there is a Ralph's about two blocks away.

Checking In: There was no problem with checking in, the person assisting was very helpful. The only thing was we had to switch rooms because the original room had one king size bed and we wanted two double beds. Switching was no problem and the staff was very apologetic even though it was not their fault.

Room: The room was very spacious. It was one of the larger rooms I have been in. There was a dorm size refrigerator and ample closet space.

Amenities: There is a work out room, couple bars, restaurant, and a coffee shop. The lobby area has internet you can use at no charge, if you want to use it in your room there is a fee of $12.95 per day.

My friend and I enjoyed our stay at the JW Marriott. It was very nice not to deal with parking and then driving after the basketball game. It was great to just walk across the street and be in the hotel. We did pay about $350 for the night and I am guessing that the price does not go down much. For one night it was great feeling like a star in LA.
