“Finally Got To Stay Here Following a Game at Staples Center”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

I am a long time season ticket holder for the LA Kings Hockey team and ever since this Marriott opened I've always wanted to spend the night here after a game. Since I live in LA I never followed through until a friend came from the East Coast to attend a game with me last night. This gave me the excuse I needed and I was not disappointed. The hotel upgraded me as a Platinum Marriott Rewards member to a great suite on the 15th floor with views over downtown LA all the way to Hollywood including the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign.
Valet Parking at the hotel is efficient but a bit expensive at $42. per night. The guys were great though. Reception was warm and welcoming. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful.
The location cannot be beat if you need to be downtown and for me with Staples Center right across the street it was fantastic. We had drinks at WP24 in the attached Ritz Carlton and the views were great.
My room was clean and modern and I slept like a baby even with the 110 freeway just a quarter mile away. LA Live is a great restaurant and entertainment complex with lot's of choices and some of the best people watching opportunities in the city.
Overall I give the JW very high marks on execution, design, location and service. I will definitely do this again in the future.

Stayed for a Confrence at the marriott, the property is well maintained and in excellent condition. Rooms can use more space, but view is great from 16 floor overlooking downtown.
Service is great and accommodating despite number of people, and all staff we're accommodating. The lounge on the fourth floor is nice and provide verity of food choices for breakfast, a big plus.
Outdoor pool is heated and in very good condition.
Great for business's traveler.

I stayed at the JW Marriott at LA Live for a conference at the LA Convention Center. The staff was courteous and responded promptly to a few problems in my room (burned out light bulbs, dirty towels in the bathroom, and broken coffeemaker).

Pros: Comfortable bed, spacious room. Pool and spa area are lovely (comfortable chairs on the sun deck, nice area for social gatherings, clean pool/whirlpool). Very nice 24-hr fitness room (top-notch cardio equipment and well-maintained weight machines, great library of fitness DVDs and matted area for yoga/Pilates, etc.). Great breakfast buffet that includes made-to-order omelettes, scrambles, and French toast. Prices for food ($26 for the breakfast buffet) comparable to that at similarly rated hotels in the area. Within walking distance to several tasty restaurants (Wolfgang Puck's, Katsuya, Rosa Mexicano), the Nokia Theatre, the Staples Center, and the LA Convention Center, and just a short subway ride away from Hollywood.

Cons: My room was on the 3rd floor, which also has several conference rooms. During my stay, there was a wedding and a few business receptions, all of which were quite noisy even though the guest rooms are down a different hallway. Wi-Fi in my room was inconsistent (dropped connections several times, even with a cable), but usable. Lacking variety in TV channels (16 for sports, 6 for news/weather, 2 Spanish-language, and a few others - E!, TBS, USA, Disney, ABC Family, History Channel, Food Network, TLC, and National Geographic).

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 4th floor (where pool is located). Floors 2-3 have conference rooms which c...

I stayed five nights at this hotel. The wi-fi was problematic, but the staff took care of it by providing a cable to use. The room was comfortable, and the housekeeping staff did a nice job. One thing I noticed in the room is the lack of electrical outlets. I attended a conference at the hotel, and I thought it was a nice venue. Parking was convenient, although a little crowded. The Lattitude Restaurant had nice Cobb salad and nice breakfast. The staff at the hotel elite desk and the restaurant was very efficient and courteous. I must say the entire staff was very nice. The Starbucks concession at the hotel did not accept the Starbucks gold card for payment, however.

Room Tip: I stayed on the 3rd floor and had no isues. Elevators were speedy and efficient.

I was in town recently for a conference and we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The location and ambiance were great! I have been at other JW Marriott hotels and this one is very nice. I liked the fact that you had to use your key card to access the guest room floors, especially considering that it's attached to a conference area. The room itself was very nice - spacious and great views.

The service there was not that good. Phone calls to the front desk were never answered. Requests for additional items took a long time to appear.Service staff was friendly, but it seems like maybe they were understaffed? Not sure what happened, but hope they fix things because I read several other reviews that had similar concerns so it can't be just me.

Stayed here while attending a conference at the LA Conference Center. There are some great amenities - luxury room, courteous service and awesome pool. However, it is quite a concrete wasteland around the hotel. The restaurants tended to be over-priced. We ate at Wolfgang Pucks, and while the food was good, they had no daily special, didn't bring any bread to the table (we ordered pasta), and a cup of tea (teabag) was $6.50!! I suspect the local businesses are hurting for customers when there is no event on. The location is great if you are attending an event at the Staples Center or Conference Center, otherwise, you are better to head out to Santa Monica for a great California coast experience. We walked over to the Macy's late one afternoon and had a slightly frightful experience walking back home as the blocks just outside of the LIVE center are peppered with some pretty unsavory characters. You are safe if you stay in the confines of the LIVE concrete jungle, but do be cautious if you venture out alone!

Green Features: They may have some environmentally friendly practices, but we were disappointed at the general lack of recycling that takes place in this area. There are so many plastic water bottles that get chucked in the garbage, it is sinful.

Great hotel location, next to the Staples Arena, where i had business. Lots of activities and restaurant.
Room was ok, large bathroom, clean, needed a few extras but ok.
Big disapointment was the wifi and parking...not for free.
Staff was not really visible - Everyone looked like they had somewhere to go. and if you dont share tips around there is no minimum attention.
Breakfast was ok, lots of choices and good food.
Overall, very central and worth the price. Staff need to be more down to earth and realise that people are people and need attention even if you have onr not huge mountains of gold.

Room Tip: Upper floors and ask for the view.
